It is that wonderful time of the year again, when we come together to take part in the old-fashioned thrills of Riverview Winter Carnival. What better way to enjoy a cold week in February than to come out and celebrate this important part of our heritage with family, friends and neighbours. For almost as long as there’s been Riverview, there has been a Riverview Winter Carnival. It just goes to show that people in our town have always loved getting outdoors and having fun! Each year it seems the carnival is bigger and better than the one before and 2015 is no exception. I encourage all residents to show your community spirit by getting involved in the daily activities planned during Riverview Winter Carnival. There will be opportunities for outdoor recreation, great food and a memorable line-up of entertainment. On behalf of Riverview Town Council, I would like to thank the organizing committee members, community partners, volunteers and sponsors for putting on such a special celebration. Together you have all made this event the success that it is today. -Mayor Ann Seamans

The 2015 Winter Carnival Planning Committee consists of 20 individuals representing 13 different community organizations. Additionally, we have 8 other partner organizations, also planning events, which add to the richness and variety of events that are showcased during our Winter Carnival. This year, Riverview is hosting its 40th Annual Winter Carnival, and the committee is very excited to celebrate this monumental year with the citizens of Riverview and visitors from our neighbouring communities.

The Riverview Winter Carnival is a tradition. It has changed over the years, and the 2015 schedule of events is very different than that of 1975, but the purpose is still the same. It’s about community. It’s about celebrating; even in the dead of winter. Our community has spirit, and it shows with the number of organizations and volunteers that come together to make Riverview Winter Carnival happen. On behalf of the 2015 Winter Carnival Planning Committee, I welcome each and every one of you to join us from February 6-15! -Karen Thompson Riverview Winter Carnival Committee Chair
