4 Tips to a successful 2nd SemesterStudents sometimes feel like they’ve run a marathon when the first semester of school ends. Depending on individual circumstances, students may truly have put in more effort than usual this semester.1. Write Long and Short – Term Goals: One of the
best ways to improve performance is to create academic goals and write them down.
2. End the First Semester Positively: Remember all your success and goals from 1st semester and work to do even better 2nd semester.
3. Re-organize School Supplies: Treat the start of the second semester like the start of a new school year. Clean up your backpack, organized your pencils and revamp anything that is old and worn out [folders, binders, etc].
4. Organize Your Calendar. One of the best ways to manage your time is to keep a detailed calendar of your assignment deadlines. Start early with 2nd semester.
What is the FASFA?• The FAFSA stands for Free
Application for Federal Student Aid. This form is used to determine the amount of money a family is expected to contribute to the price of attending a postsecondary institution. The results of the FAFSA are used in determining student grants, work study, and loan amounts.
• The FAFSA application is CRITICAL because it is used for Federal Pell Grants as well as California State Grants and other financial aid offered by colleges and universities. You must apply separately for many scholarships.

How can I complete the FAFSA?There are three ways to complete a FAFSA:
1. Online (FAFSA on the Web) at www.fafsa.gov (recommended)
2. PDF FAFSA (download file) at www.studentaid.ed.gov/PDFfafsa
3. Paper FAFSA (request a copy by calling 1-800-4-FED-AID [1-800-433-3243]).
Applying online is generally faster and easier; however is not the only way. There is a pen
and paper model too.
