Toni is our casual and knitwear Design Manager for womenswear and has been with River Island for two years.

Coralie came to River Island straight after graduating from Northumbria University four years ago. She now looks after designing women’s tops.

Like Coralie, Farrah has been with us for four years. We met Farrah at Graduate Fashion Week in 2006 and she’s now designing accessories for womenswear.

Cherie started at River Island six years ago as a Junior Buyer and has progressed through the ranks to oversee women’s outerwear and trousers.

2010 HAS SEEN ME IN THE STUDIO WRITING AND PRODUCING alongside my co-producer & brother STATIS. We have been working with lots of fantastic artists here in the UK and in the US. Our sound is very ‘London’ - a mix of drum & bass, electro, hip hop and rock in� uences with lots of 80s synths. I SPENT THE SUMMER TOUR DJING FOR KELIS. She is one of my best friends so we had so much fun over the summer. We did Glasto, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, Perez Hilton One Night In… London, Pride and T4 on � e Beach (which happened to be on my birthday so 100,000 people sang Happy Birthday to me!) We’ve just completed the “Fleshtone” European Tour too - which was absolutely amazing.

I BLOG EVERY DAY ABOUT MY LIFE AS A DJ. I write about fashion, music and anything that rocks my world

– blogging started as a hobby and has now taken over my life! I also

run a street style blog and event called Fashbashsoundclash with my friend, fashion designer Wale

Adeyemi. Our Fashbash parties have an amazing vibe. A mix of the

most creative people in London come out to hear my Beatnik Soundsystem, which features the hottest UK artists we produce records for.

THIS WINTER THERE ARE SO MANY HOT UK ARTISTS TO LOOK OUT FOR. Terri Walker, BIG MAN ZEST, XOman, Lingo Scott; UK music is at a really strong point right now - with so much creativity, we are leading the world. Look out for my Beatnik tracks and podcasts on iTunes too. I LOVE ALL THINGS 90S so I’m glad that clog boots are back! Obviously shearling is big this season, but I have been rocking my 90s oversized shearling jacket for a couple of winters now, so I’m looking to my favourite goose leather coat and studded Louboutin riding boots to be my winter saviours. RIVER ISLAND SHOES ARE DEFINITELY KILLING IT as far as footwear goes and I already have my eye on the amazing leopard print wedge ankle boots and the red hiking boots for the Kelis tour. I also can’t wait to get my hands on the beautiful red leather biker jacket.

I HAVE BEEN A PLUS SIZE MODEL FOR SIX MONTHS after I quit so-called ‘normal’ modelling in April. I love modelling but I love my food too! I tried every fad diet and exercised like crazy but my body just didn’t want to stay so small. It’s quite ironic that I’ve been getting more work now I’m a plus size model. FOR LONDON FASHION WEEK SS11 I took part in the amazing All Walks Beyond the Catwalk project. It’s such a wonderful project to be a part of as it promotes individuality in British fashion. Models of all shapes, ages and races were chosen to wear specially created dresses for the campaign (mine was designed by Hussein Chalayan) which was shot by the infamous photographer, Rankin. � e photos will feature in an exhibit called “Snapped” at � e National Portrait Gallery in February. MUSIC AND COOKERY ARE TWO OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS. I have a food blog called Nao-Yummy where I write about all the foods I missed before I became a plus size model. I spent a year and a half being sad about food so now I’m making up for

lost time! Check it out at http://nao-yummy.tumblr.com/ MY FOOD BLOG LED TO ME WRITING AND PRODUCING MY OWN SHOW, “Bitchin’ in the Kitchen”, which brings music and cookery together. � e show is all about real food for real people. We cook amazing soul food - we even turned a recipe into a slow jam for one episode! � e show has a 50s dirty housewife vibe so I’ve been wearing loads of checks, vintage denim, piled-on gold and my white oversized River Island shades which I’ve literally not taken o� all summer. I SPENT MOST OF THE SUMMER AT FESTIVALS across the UK. At Lovebox Festival I hosted their TV channel, interviewing loads of acts, from Grace Jones to Dizzee Rascal, in between sets. My interviews were streamed live at the festival

to thousands of people which was nerve racking but an amazing experience. For LED Festival an event I DJ at and host in London, Pump Up � e Volume, took over the VIP tent for the day. It’s a full-on 90s hip hop, house and pop party where anything goes and we’re planning to take it across the UK in 2011.

NAOMI SHIMADA is a TV presenter, DJ and a model. Naomi’s recently presented for NME and Lovebox TV and is currently working on her own music and cookery show.
