In order to make adequate food preparations, please sign up online at CBCLancaster.org (click on Event Registration), or at the Connection Center (located in the main hallway). As always, you are invited to come early for an afternoon of swimming and fellowship. Dont forget your lawn chair and sunscreen. Fine Arts Camp starts this Sunday, August 2nd! Please be in prayer for the volunteers and students next week. Also, a huge shout-out to those who are helping by teaching, providing snacks, and being general helpers. You guys are keepers! Wow! What a wonderful response to the needs that were mentioned in the last newsletter and in a recent sermon. Thank you to the two ladies that stepped forward to learn how to become Sound Technicians and also to the young lady who stepped forward to learn the Presentation position. You all are an answer to prayer, and your obedience through service is a joy to witness! There is still one immediate need for the Media Video position . We need one person to help run our camera system. If you ever played a Pacman arcade game, you can be trained to run our camera system. This job is much needed, especially now that we are streaming our services to Facebook Live. As an added help, we could really use this person to record our services and post them on our church website. Again, if you can navigate Amazon.com or send an email with an attachment, we can train you to do this job. Worship Choir will resume on Wednesday, August 12th, at 7:15 p.m. This choir is open to students (13 and up) and adults. It is not auditioned. These wonderful folks lead us in congregational singing as well and choir selections and seasonal musicals. Please let me know if you would like to join us! Band/Orchestra is an ongoing music ministry. We rehearse on Sundays at 5:30 p.m. If you have a band or orchestral instrument that you would like to play, please come see me. This group is open to students (13 and up) and adults.

NEW MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY

We would like to introduce a new ministry opportunity we have named "521 Ministries". Basically the goal of this ministry is to reach out to the local Lancaster community by meeting physical needs which in turn will lead to reaching their spiritual needs. The ministry's goal is to have one project a month. We have several ideas in mind for the coming months, but we would like to highlight the one we have planned for Saturday, August 22nd. The plan is to provide a delivered meal to our first responders in the city of Lancaster. Each meal will come with a hand written card expressing our appreciation for their sacrifices and everything they do. They really need encouragement and prayers during this difficult time. The take out plates will consist of perlo (chicken bog), green beans, cole slaw, a slice of bread, a slice of cake, napkin and a utensil. We will be delivering them for lunch on the 22nd. We are looking for volunteers to help with cooking cakes, assembling the plates, helping prepare the chicken for the perlo, writing cards, and delivering the plates. If you would like to contribute financially and/or purchase some of the food, that would be a blessing too! Last, but the most important, is prayer. We need people to pray about this ministry and lives that will be reached. Pray that they will see the love of Christ through these monthly acts of giving back to the community, that people will come to the saving knowledge of Christ, and His kingdom will be furthered. Our mission is to spread the Word of God locally, while partnering with those who are willing and able to spread His Word to the ends of the earth. We will do this by first meeting the physical needs of people in our community in order to then meet their spiritual needs, as Christ did countless times in His ministry. We chose the name “521 Ministries” for two reasons, first for those who are local, it shows that Covenant is reinvesting into the local community as the church body should. Secondly, it summarizes what our ministry outreach will focus on while also explaining why we do what we do… 5 – Our ministry events will be based on meeting one of the five needs Jesus lists to His disciples in Matthew 25:31-46. These will include feeding the hungry, giving water to the thirsty, welcoming in the stranger, clothing the naked and visiting those in prison. 2 – Our purpose comes from Matthew 22:36-40, when Jesus explains the greatest commandment: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind’. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” 1 – Our goal is to reach those who are lost from Lancaster County to the ends of the earth and point them towards the only One who can save (John 14:6), Jesus! In Christ, Luke & Michelle Harvell Brant & Mary Lane “521 Ministries”

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

The Covid pandemic has derailed our plans to collect items for Operation Christmas Child throughout the year; however, please consider purchasing “back to school” items now. Many are on sale, and the tax-free weekend is coming up August 7-9. A cart is located in the Glocal Missions Center for your donations.

GriefShare Group on Thursdays August 6th through October 29th

Many of our ladies have not been able to come to our large group events, but they can talk with a few people in their front yard. To honor and bless them for our August event, let’s have a mini-Bible-study in small groups outdoors at their homes! We are calling it: Philippians in the Front Yard If you would like to have a few ladies come to your house, with chair and Bible, sit in a well-spaced circle in a shady place in your yard, and delight together in God’s Word, please call Pat McManus at 803-804-0117 or 803-286-7007. Those of you who would love to encourage our ladies who are staying home by going to their house in a small group, and reading Scripture together, talking about it a bit and praying together, please sign up at the Salty Sweet Sisterhood table in the main hallway at church, or call the office and ask them to sign you up if you can’t come to church.

The nursery during the worship service hour will open back up this Sunday, August 2nd, for children from birth to 3 years old. Ministry Mondays have come to an end. It has been an awesome summer of learning about “glocal” ministries, missionaries, and serving. A huge thank you to my volunteers who served every Monday! Thank you to the parents for letting their children attend and to the kids who helped make this summer a blast!
