RIVA 1920 da anni persegue l’obbiettivo di utilizzare solo legni di riforestazione, legniprovenienti da fornitori che aderiscono al programma “SmartWood Certified Forestry”creato per la tutela e la gestione responsabile delle risorse forestali. Per contribuireconcretamente, seppur in minima parte, a mantenere le nostre foreste “patrimonio ditutti”, RIVA 1920 vi invita ad aderire al progetto NATURAL LIVING: ogni acquirente di unprodotto della collezione Riva 1920 riceverà in dono un piccolo alberello, coltivato a partiredal seme in vivai appositamente creati e consegnato in una scatola di legno. La piantaadottata risarcirà nel corso degli anni la natura per il legno utilizzato nella produzione delmobile acquistato. Per chi, pur aderendo al progetto, non sarà in grado di mettere adimora la piantina non avendo un habitat adatto abbiamo pensato all’adozione “adistanza”. KAURI - LA STORIA

C’é il soffio di un tempo infinito nel legno Kauri, l’albero piùgrande e famoso della Nuova Zelanda, una conifera che vive soloin climi sub tropicali. L’Agathis australis, questo il suo nomescientifico, comparve nel periodo giurassico in Nuova Zelanda,prima che l’orma di un uomo solcasse il pianeta e si sviluppò inrigogliose foreste. Cataclismi e sconvolgimenti naturali alla finedell’ultima era glaciale hanno abbattuto intere forestericoprendole poi con acqua e fango. E proprio da quelle paludi,da una culla di fango, il Kauri é risorto a nuova vita: splendido edintatto, come se fosse appena stato tagliato. A conservare intattoil Kauri e ad impedire il naturale processo di decomposizione éun insieme di fattori, tra cui sembra avere un ruolo fondamentalela resina, presente in grande quantità. Secondo recenti studi,infatti, la resina ha una funzione curativa ed impermeabilizzanteche rende la corteccia inattaccabile alle muffe e all’acqua.Il Kauri millenario si trova in veri e propri giacimenti paludosi nelNord della Nuova Zelanda. Una volta rinvenuto il sito contenentel’antico legno si procede al recupero di alcuni campioni per ladatazione attraverso il sistema del carbonio 14. La datazione deilegni varia dai 7 mila ai 50 mila anni fa e la differenza d’età nedetermina diverse tonalità di colore.

KAURI - THE HISTORY

The Kauri millenarian swamp - Timber with an Ancient Soul.There is a breath of infinite time in Kauri timber, the largest andmost famous New Zealand tree, a conifer that thrives only insub-tropical climates. "Agathis Australis" is the scientific namefor a tree that appeared during the Jurassic period before manhad set foot on the earth and which grew in virgin forests.Cataclysms and natural disasters, which took place at the end ofthe glacial period, razed entire forests, covering them with waterand mud. And, it is from these swamps, a nest of mud, thatKauri has come to life again, splendid and in tact as though ithad just been felled. The conservation of the Kauri and theslowing of the natural decomposition process takes into accountvarious factors and those factors which seem to have afundamental role are the large quantities of resins present in thetimber. According to recent studies, the resin contains certainremedial and impermeable ingredients which protect the barkfrom mould and water. The millennium Kauri is found only in thegenuine swamp regions in the north of New Zealand.Once a site has been identified, samples are taken for carbondating 14. The dating of the various timbers, which ranges from7 thousand to 50 thousand years, is determined by the diversecolour tones of the timber.

Das tausendjährige Kauriholz, Holz mit der alten Seele.Eine Spur der ewigen Zeit finden wir im Holz von Kauri, demgrößten und bekanntesten Baum in Neuseeland, der zurNadelbaumgruppe gehört, die nur im Tropenklima beheimat ist.Der unter dem wissenschaftlichen Namen Agathis australisbekannte Kauri findet seinen Ursprung in der jurassischen Periodein Neuseeland, bevor der Mensch den Planeten betrat undentwickelte sich zu üppigen Wäldern. Am Ende der letzten Eiszeitwurden ganze Waldbestände durch Naturkatastrophen undVerwüstungen zerstört und unter Wasser und Schlamm begraben.Genau in diesen Moorgebieten erblühte der Kauribaum zu neuemLeben, als wäre er gerade geschnitten worden. VerschiedeneFaktoren, unter denen das in großen Mengen vorhandene Harzeine wichtige Rolle spielt, haben es diesem Holz ermöglicht, dienatürlichen Zersetzungsvorgänge zu überleben. Die neuestenForschungen haben ergeben, dass Harz eine heilende und Wasserabweisende Funktion besitzt und die Baumrinde gegen Schimmelund Wasser schützt. Der tausendjährige Kauri befindet sich imNorden Neuseelands. Wird das Holz gefunden, dann werdeneinige Muster für die Datierung mittels derKarboniumanwendungsmethode 14 genommen. Die Datierungvariiert zwischen 7000 und 50000 Jahren und das Alter bestimmtdie verschiedenen Farbtöne des Holzes.

INFORMAZIONI IMPORTANTI PER TAVOLI IN KAURI

Questo prodotto è realizzato legno “KAURI Millenario delle paludi”proveniente dalla Nuova Zelanda, un legno rimasto nel sottosuolo permigliaia di anni. L’età di questo legno millenario può variare dai 7.000 ai50.000 anni. Le particolari caratteristiche del fango in cui il legno è statosepolto e la mancanza di ossigeno nel terreno hanno permesso a questolegno di non subire alcun processo di fossilizzazione rimanendo splendidoe intatto fino ai giorni nostri, come fosse appena tagliato.E’ assolutamente una normale caratteristica di questo legno, anzi,prerogativa di inimitabilità del prodotto, che in tavole di legno KAURIMILLENARIO dell’età di circa 30.000 anni, vi possano essere delle crepe edelle spaccature naturali e accidentali. Desideriamo sottolineare che nonsarà motivo di reclamo qualsiasi contestazione riguardante movimenti dellegno, crepe sul piano e ogni variazione che può subire il legno KAURI inquanto non dipendenti dalla nostra volontà e impossibili da prevedere.Desideriamo quindi informare con chiarezza il nostro Cliente che ilprodotto che sta acquistando non può essere paragonato a un “normale”tavolo in legno ma a qualcosa di straordinario, unico al mondo einimitabile: una vera e propria opera d’arte creata dalla Natura e come taledeve essere accettata. E’ importante sapere che se viene scelta una tavolada una fotografia non può essere in alcun modo garantito che la tavolapossa mantenere le medesime caratteristiche anche al momento dellaconsegna. Essa infatti può subire movimenti, presentare nuove crepederivate da un naturale assestamento del legno KAURI, dalla suaessiccazione o in base alle diverse condizioni ambientali.

USEFULL INFORMATION FOR KAURI WOOD TABLES

This product is made of “ancient swamp KAURI” from New Zealand,wood that has lain buried in the earth for thousands of years.This wood may vary in age from 7,000 to 50,000 years old.The special character of the mud in which this wood has been buriedand the lack of oxygen in the soil have meant that no fossilization hastaken place and the wood remains splendid and in tact still today, as if ithad just been cut. It is a perfectly normal feature of this wood, indeed itis one of the unique aspects of this product, that lengths of ANCIENTKAURI wood that are about 30,000 years old may have cracks in them,as well as natural splits and dents. We would like to point out that thiscannot be grounds for any complaint regarding the movement, surfacecracks or unevenness of the KAURI wood, since this is neither the resultof our actions nor predictable. We would therefore like to be perfectlyclear in informing our Customers that the product they are about toacquire cannot be compared to a “normal” wooden table.Rather it should be considered as something extraordinary, unique andinimitable: a genuine work of art created by the hand of Nature and bevalued as such. It is important to realise that if a table is chosen from aphotograph there can be no guarantee that the table will remainunchanged in every way right down to the moment of delivery.Indeed, it might undergo movement, manifest new cracks as a result ofthe natural settling of the KAURI wood, its drying out or various otherenvironmental factors.

GESTALTUNG DER TISCHPLATTE:

A) Tisch aus KAURIHOLZ an einem Stück

in „Originalform“. Es handelt sich um einedurchgehende Platte aus KAURIHOLZ. DieGröße (Länge, Breite und Stärke) und dieForm der Platte entspricht demOriginalschnitt des Baumstammes. DieseVersion setzt die Annahme seitens desKunden voraus, da die Maße nichtzentimetergenau entsprechend dengeforderten Maßen sein könnten. Daher muss vor der Bestellung derLagerbestand der verschiedenen Plattenüberprüft werden.

B) Tischplatte KAURI an einem Stück “mit

gekanteten Seiten”. Es handelt sich um einedurchgehende Platte aus KAURIHOLZ.Die Größe der Platte (Länge, Breite undStärke) entspricht dem Schnitt desBaumstammes. Später werden die vier Seitengekantet, um die Form einer rechteckigenTischplatte zu erhalten. Diese Version setzt dieAnnahme seitens des Kunden voraus, da dieMaße nicht zentimetergenau entsprechendden geforderten Maßen sein könnten. Daher muss vor der Bestellung derLagerbestand der verschiedenen Plattenüberprüft werden.

CONFORMAZIONE DEL PIANO DEL TAVOLO:

A) Piano tavolo KAURI pezzo unico

“originale”. Si tratta di una tavola unica dilegno KAURI. Le dimensioni (lunghezza,larghezza e spessore) e la forma della tavolasono quelle originali ottenute dal taglio deltronco. Questa versione presupponel’accettazione da parte del cliente che lemisure potrebbero non corrispondere alcentimetro rispetto a quelle richieste. E’ quindi necessario, prima dell’ordine,verificare la disponibilità delle varie tavole adisposizione in magazzino.

B) Piano tavolo KAURI pezzo unico

“con lati squadrati”. Si tratta di una tavolaunica di legno KAURI. Le dimensioni dellatavola (lunghezza, larghezza e spessore) sonoquelle ottenute dal taglio del tronco. Inseguito vengono squadrati i quattro lati perottenere una forma del piano del tavolorettangolare. Questa versione presupponel’accettazione da parte del cliente che lemisure del tavolo, essendo la tavola un pezzounico, potrebbero non corrispondere alcentimetro rispetto a quelle richieste.E’ quindi necessario, prima dell’ordine,verificare la disponibilità delle varie tavole adisposizione in magazzino.

Ein von Matteo Thun für RIVA 1920entworfener Tisch, dessen Design sich an dieverlebten Töne und der weichen Oberflächevon alten Surfbrettern lehnt. Die Tischplatte mit kennzeichnender ovalerForm besteht aus massivem Nussbaumholzmit, auf der gesamten Tischlänge, dreioriginellen Einsätzen aus amerikanischemAhornholz. Die auch aus massivem Nussbaumholzgedrechselten Tischbeine erinnern an Böcke,auf welche die Surfbretter gelegt werden, umvom Surfer poliert oder gereinigt zu werden. Die Feinbearbeitung mit Öl und Wachsermöglicht es, die feinen Nuancen und denKontrast zwischen Nussbaum und Ahornhervorzuheben.Stärke der Tischplatte: cm. 4,8

Wir möchten Sie auf einige Eigenschaften des neuen Tisches Mod. BOSS EXECUTIVE und auf dessen Lieferzeiten hinweisen.Die Tischbeine des Tisches Mod. BOSS EXCECUTIVE sind aus massiven Holzblöcken ca. 35 x 35 x 75 cm hergestellt. Jeder für die Herstellung der Tischbeine benutzte Stamm ist wirklich ein Einzelstück, so wie es einmalig und exklusivist, einen Tisch mit dieser einzigartigen Anfertigung zu besitzen. Die Beschaffung dieser großen Stämme (aus NUSSBAUM und EICHE), das Sägen, das Auswählen und das Trocknenverlangen einen größeren Zeitaufwand als die normale Bearbeitung von Materialien mit Standardstärken.Daher kann sich die die geschätzte Lieferzeit aus den obengenannten Gründen auch um einige Wochen verzögern. Des weiteren möchten wir Sie informieren, dass eventuelle Veränderungen, Risse oder Spalten (besonders bei denmassiven Holzblöcken, welche die Beine des Tisches BOSS EXCECUTIVE bilden), sowohl bei Erhalt der Ware alsauch in der nachfolgenden Zeit, als völlig normale und für ein vollständig aus Massivholz hergestelltes Produkttypische Eigenschaften zu betrachten sind. Für die Kunden die dies Eigenschaften nicht wünschen und akzeptieren, bieten wir den Tisch alternativ als BOSSBASIC an. Der Unterschied besteht darin, daß wir einen Block 35 x 35 x 75 cm in einer massivenRahmenkonstruktion bauen (nicht durch und durch massiv) und diese Säule entsprechend unter die Tischplattemontieren. Der Fuß wird nicht durch die Platte gestoßen und die Tischbeine sind somit nicht in der Platte sichtbar.

Gentile Cliente, la ringraziamo per l’interesse verso i prodotti della Collezione RIVA 1920 e NATURA Collection by RIVA. La informiamoche questi prodotti sono realizzati con materie prime non trattate da vernici o coloranti. E’ bene sapere prima dell’acquisto di questiprodott i che alcune part icolari tà qui di seguito elencate sono caratterist iche t ipiche del le materie prime uti l izzate.TOP IN LEGNO MASSELLO: Il legno massello è un materiale vivo che a seconda delle diverse condizioni climatiche e di umidità nell’ambiente puòmuoversi. Piccole differenze di spessore tra le varie liste di legno massello incollate a formare il top del tavolo, nell’ordine di qualche millimetro odecimi di millimetro (una tolleranza di circa 0,5 – 1%) sono da considerarsi movimenti naturali tipici del legno massello. Ogni prodotto in legnomassello può essere considerato un pezzo unico e in quanto tale ha venature, colori, profumi diversi uno dall’altro. Eventuali differenze di tonalitàdi colore tre le varie parti del mobile (o del top del tavolo) non sono motivo di reclamo ma caratteristiche tipiche di un prodotto in legno massello.CERA PER LAVORAZIONE PIANI DI TAVOLI NELLA VERSIONE LEGNO CON NODI: I top dei tavoli nella versione “con nodi” sono trattati conuna speciale cera di colore nero che viene riscaldata e portata allo stato liquido per essere poi inserita nel nodo. Una volta raffreddata atemperatura ambiente, ritorna allo stato solido e ottura completamente il nodo del legno. Eventuali effetti di “cristallizzazione” della cera odifferenze di tonalità di colore sulla superficie del tavolo in corrispondenza al nodo è del tutto normale e può essere attenuato utilizzando lapaglietta d’acciaio del nostro set manutenzione. Anche il numero dei nodi e la loro dimensione presenti nel top del tavolo non sono motivodi contestazione bensì una caratteristica del legno massello della versione “con nodi” trattato con oli e cere naturali.BASE IN FERRO NATURALE (VERSIONE STANDARD): Alcuni tavoli della linea NATURA e della Collezione Riva 1920 hanno la base è in ferronaturale grezzo non tinto. La base viene solo lavata con speciali detergenti neutri e successivamente rifinita a olio. Eventuali segni, piccoligraffi o aloni presenti sulla superficie delle gambe in ferro sono elementi tipici di un prodotto in ferro forgiato in altoforno e mantenutogrezzo senza alcuna verniciatura coprente. Eventuali ossidazioni della gamba sono altresì caratteristiche tipiche del ferro naturale. Perevitare l’effetto dell’ossidazione è sufficiente pulire periodicamente la gamba in ferro con in nostro olio del set di manutenzione RIVA 1920. BASE IN FERRO TINTO (SU RICHIESTA): Su richiesta e con un sovraprezzo rispetto alla versione standard è possibile richiedere la base inferro verniciato nero opaco colore RAL 9004 oppure bianco RAL 9010.

Dear Customer, thank you for demonstrating interest in the RIVA 1920 Collection / NATURA Collection by RIVA. The abovementioned products are made of raw materials that have not been treated with either paint or colourants. It is important to knowbefore buying these products that some of their characteristics l isted below are typical traits of the materials used.SOLID WOOD TOP: Solid wood is a Iiving material that may move according to different weather conditions and environmental humidity.Movement caused by small differences in thickness between the various pieces of solid wood glued together to form the table top (theseare differences of a few millimetres or tenths of millimetres, with a tolerance of 0,5 – 1%) should be considered natural and typical of solidwood. Every solid wood product should be considered completely unique in that each has a grain, colour and smell different from anyother. Any natural movements of wood, or differences of colour tone between the various parts of the piece of furniture (or table top)should therefore not be considered reason for concern but as typical characteristics of a product made of solid wood. WAX FOR TABLE SURFACES IN THE KNOTTY WOOD VERSION: The table tops in the “with knots” version are treated with a special blackwax that is heated to liquefy it and then apply it to the knot. Once cooled to room temperature it solidifies and completely blocks the woodknot. Any “crystallisation” effect of the wax or differences in tone on the surface of the table around the knot is completely normal and canbe diminished using the steel-wire pad in our maintenance kit. The number and size of knots on the table tops are likewise no reason forcomplaint but a typical characteristic of the solid wood used in the version “with knots” and treated with oil and natural wax. BASE IN NATURAL IRON (STANDARD VERSION): The bases of the tables in the NATURA line are made of natural undyed iron. The only treatmentthe base receives is a wash in special neutral detergents and, after that, an oil finishing. Any marks, little scratches or discolourations, on thesurface of the iron legs are typical of iron products forged in a blast furnace and kept raw without any paint coating. Similarly, oxidation on the legsis typical of natural iron. To avoid the effect of oxidation just clean the iron legs regularly with the oil in the RIVA 1920 maintenance kit. BLACK PAINTED IRON BASE (ON REQUEST): A black iron base coated with the opaque RAL 9004 paint (or white RAL 9010) can bepurchased on request and on payment of a supplement in addition to the standard version.

Eventuelle Bewegungen des Holzes oder unterschiedliche Farbtöne an den verschiedenen Möbelteilen (oder derTischplatte) stellen keine Ursache für Reklamationen dar, sondern sind typische Eigenschaften eines Produkts aus Massivholz. WACHS FÜR DIE BEARBEITUNG VON TISCHPLATTEN IN DER AUSFÜHRUNG HOLZ MIT KNOTEN: Tischplatten in der Ausführung „mit Knoten“werden mit einem speziellen schwarzen Wachs behandelt, der der erwärmt wird, um in flüssig in die Knoten zu füllen. Nachdem er beiRaumtemperatur abgekühlt wurde und wieder fest ist bedeckt er vollständig den Holzknoten. Auch die Anzahl der Knoten und ihre Größe an der Tischplatte stellen keine Ursachezur Reklamation dar, sondern ist ein Merkmal von Massivholz in der Version „mit Knoten“, vollendet auf natürliche Basis mit Ölen und Wachs. STRUKTUR AUS NATÜRLICHEM EISEN (STANDARDAUSFÜHRUNG): Die Tische der Kollektion NATURA sind mit Strukturen ausnatürlichem ungefärbtem Roheisen ausgerüstet. Die Schlichtheiten derLinien und das Augenmerk auf eineumweltfreundliche Produktion sind dieEigenschaften dieser von Tom Kelleyentworfenen Stühle. Firmentradition undInnovation: eine Ehrerbietung an den Stilder 60er Jahre, jedoch interpretiert miteiner vollständig kontemporären, auchumweltfreundlichen Reife. Merkmaldieser Stühle sind die beiden die Strukturfestigenden Holzstreben zwischen denvorderen und hinteren Stuhlbeinen.

rovere e noce americano di forestazione certificata. A richiesta anche in legno di teak, cedro e larice. La finitura è ottenuta

con il caratteristico trattamento a base di oli naturali vegetali, non dannosi per la salute, che consente di risaltare al

massimo le venature del legno con naturale splendore. La diverse tonalità di colore del legno sono da considerarsi un

pregio in quanto sinonimo di materia prima naturale, senza coloranti o fibre artificiali aggiunte. Prendersi cura di un

mobile in legno è semplice: è sufficiente, quando sarà necessario, ripristinare la finitura. Per questo, a chi acquista un

mobile RIVA 1920, viene consegnato un kit di manutenzione con un flacone della finitura, un panno per la polvere, una

paglietta in lana d’acciaio per togliere eventuali aloni o graffi, un panno per stendere la finitura e i guanti. Il legno è un

materiale vivo e come tale può avere nel tempo piccoli mutamenti di colore e di dimensione. Per i primi mesi gli oggetti

appoggiati sui piani dei mobili devono essere periodicamente spostati poiché il legno, rifinito con sostanze naturali, è

sensibile alla luce e si ossida, creando differenze di colore tra le parti esposte e quelle coperte.

scratches, a cloth for applying the finish and a pair of gloves. Solid wood remains a living material. It can also change

colour under the influence of sunlight. Wood, with a natural finish, is sensitive to light and colour differences may appear

between parts that remain covered and those open to the light. We recommend that in the first few months you change

the position of any objects resting on top of the furniture. These properties, found in all solid wood furniture, are a sign of

its genuineness and typical of how the traditional material of hand-crafted furniture responds in use.

die in einem Möbelstück auftreten können, sind ein Echtheitsmaterial der Stücke, die ohne Kunststoffe produziert werden.

Die Pflege eines Holzmöbels ist sehr einfach: wenn erforderlich, ist die Feinbearbeitung wieder zu erneuern. Dazu wird beim

Erwerb eines Möbels von Riva ein Pflegesatz mitgeliefert, in dem sich ein Fläschchen für die Feinbearbeitung, ein Staubtuch,

CARATTERISTICHE DELLA PELLE “OLIMPIA”: Il cuoietto “OLIMPIA” è un materiale di grande pregioqualitativo ed estetico. Ricavato dal groppone del vitello, il materiale viene conciato al cromo erifinito con resine poliuretaniche all’acqua con una resistenza allo sfregamento a umido pari a500/700 colpi, mentre a secco il valore è pari a 1000 colpi. Lo spessore del cuoio è mediamente di 2mm. Il cuoio “OLIMPIA” è un materiale che rispetta la salute e l’ambiente: i prodotti utilizzati per laconcia, la tintura e il finissaggio sono conformi alle normative CEE. (n.b.: i parametri tecnici devonoessere considerati come valori indicativi: i valori ottenuti possono variare da un colore all’altro) MANUTENZIONE DEL CUOIETTO “OLIMPIA”: Il cuoietto “OLIMPIA” è un materiale naturale eperciò occorrono alcune avvertenze per mantenere le caratteristiche del prodotto inalterate neltempo. In caso di macchie rimuovere lo sporco tamponando con panno asciutto, senza strofinare.Utilizzare poi una spugna umida imbevuta di acqua tiepida e bioalcool; quindi asciugare con unpanno morbido. Non utilizzare smacchiatori o detergenti commerciali abitualmente usati pertrattare le macchie sui tessuti. E’ molto importante non esporre il cuoietto alla luce diretta del sole.
