Everyone is responsible for identifying risks – it is not a separate activity

What is a risk?The Australian and New Zealand Standard on Risk Management (AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009):

… anything that will have an:‘effect of uncertainty’ on HNT’s Strategic and Operational Plans.’

Areas of risk & examples• Administration – loss of corporate knowledge

• Technology - inappropriate use of social media

• Stakeholder management and communications – low retention of player base

• Health and safety – child abuse

• Financial – conflict in sponsorship

• Training and development – not enough coaches for representative teams

• Regulatory/compliance – breach of Privacy Act

• Natural/unnatural events – cancellation of a national competition in the NT
