Launch/Recovery and Mooring:

• Investigator to be lifted into and out of the water at the Port of Blyth, booked as needed on Monday 18th and Wednesday 20th.

• Arrangements to be coordinated with the Harbour Masters Office (South Harbour, Blyth, NE24 3PB, 01670 357004).

Project Constraints:

• All works weather dependant.

• Speed restrictions around the Port of Blyth is 4Kn.

• Vessels and works not to obstruct the navigable channel on the River Blyth.

• Unknown 3rd party operations within the Port of Blyth and on the River Blyth.

• Tides see Fig 3 below. (MBES to be conducted around HW and MMM to be conducted around LW).

Part 1: Boat Launch

a) Before commencing work, ensure correct PPE and safety procedures are in place including: ✓ Check all permissions and paperwork are in order ✓ Receive site induction and permit to work from Farrans. ✓ Toolbox talk to include mobilisation, launch procedures, emergency procedures as well as radio

protocol. ✓ Test equipment and PPE check (minimum PPE to include safety boots, Hi-Vis jacket, life jacket).

b) Prepare the vessel (Investigator) ready for lift-in, removal of straps, light board and other vessel transit requirements.

c) Lift-in to be conducted by the Port of Blyth. Follow all instructions and directives. d) Once the vessel is in the harbour then it will be moved and moored to a suitable location for mobilisation,

making use of quay-fixed ladders to access water/vessels when required. Part 2: Multibeam Sonar Survey

a) Ensure correct PPE is worn and team are familiar with safety and emergency procedures. b) Prepare vessel with safety systems and equipment for survey. c) Mobilise the vessel for hydrographic survey (MBES, GNSS, I2NS). d) Install RTK-GNSS base station e) Inform the harbour master that survey operations are about to commence – VHF channel 12 & 16 (Call Sign:

Blyth Harbour Radio). f) Transit to site g) Conduct QC procedures, including: GAMS (GNSS Azimuth Measurement System) calibration, sound

velocity profiles (SVP) and Patch Test. h) Carry out survey around HW (19/03/19 pm):

i. Number of survey lines dependant on water depth ii. Data collection shall be conducted in accordance with the IHO standards for Hydrographic surveys

(S-44), and the most stringent criteria used. iii. Data review and sign off completed by the surveyor in charge.

i) With data acquisition complete, return to mooring location. j) Once operations have been completed for the day, the vessel will be demobilised and secured for the night,

ready for lift-out the following day (Mooring location to be advised by Port of Blyth harbour master on daily basis). Survey will be limited to daylight hours only.

Part 3: IP-S3 Laser Scan Survey

a) Ensure correct PPE is worn and team are familiar with safety and emergency procedures. b) Prepare vessel with safety systems and equipment for survey. c) Mobilise the Topcon IP-S3 on to ‘Investigator’. d) Inform harbour master that survey is about to commence. e) Transit to site f) Carry out Survey around LW (19/03/19 am):

i. Estimated 2 passes will be required, circa 10m to 20m from the wall. g) With data acquisition complete, return to mooring location. h) Once operations have been completed for the day, the vessel will be demobilised and secured for the night,

ready for lift-out the following day (Mooring location to be advised by Port of Blyth harbour master on daily basis). Survey will be limited to daylight hours only.

Part 4: High-Resolution Sonar Scanning

a. Ensure correct PPE is worn and team are familiar with safety and emergency procedures. b. Prepare vessel with safety systems and equipment for survey. c. Mobilise the Teledyne BV5000 on to ‘Investigator’. d. Inform harbour master that survey is about to commence. e. Transit to site f. Carry out Survey around intake infrastructure (probably between MMM and MBES data collection)

a. BV5000 is lowered onto bed using the davit arm on Investigator. b. Once located on the bed and stable, a 360° scan is completed. c. Repeat until full coverage has been attained.

g. With data acquisition complete, return to mooring location. h. Once operations have been completed for the day, the vessel will be demobilised and secured for the night,

ready for lift-out the following day (Mooring location to be advised by Port of Blyth harbour master on daily basis). Survey will be limited to daylight hours only.

Part 5: Boat Recovery

a) Before commencing vessel recovery, ensure correct PPE and safety procedures are in place. b) Prepare the vessel (Investigator) for retrieval to include the removal of survey equipment, fuel and personnel. c) Lift-out to be conducted by the Port of Blyth. Follow all instructions and directives. Ensure they are aware of

lift points on Investigator (marked with tape on the guard rails) d) Prepare the vessel (Investigator) ready for transit including: Tie down procedure, lightboard installation,

complete pre transit vehicle, vessel and trailer checks.
