The Momentum TheoremFocused intensity over time multiplied by God equals unstoppable momentum!

The God Factor momentum continues at Risen Savior! As the FPU classes wrap up and wecontinue to incorporate God’s financial principles into our personal finances, we look forward to ournext God Factor focus: serving God’s people. We’ve all heard about time, talents and treasureswhen talking about stewardship. Through Financial Peace University we have spent time focusingon the financial treasures that we have been intrusted to us by God. But we are not done! We willcontinue to provide opportunities for fellowship, growth and learning in regards to managing ourfinances in the months to come. Our focused intensity now is to use our time and talents to ShineGod’s Light to others through our words and deeds.

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding

that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power

according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to theFather, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light.

For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Colossians 1: 9-14

The God Factor Leadership team and many others have been praying for the members of Risen Savior. Praying that eachof us are able to discern God’s Will so that we will live a life worthy of the God who has given all believers eternal life throughthe gift of His son, Jesus Christ.

We have initially focused the intensity of our servant efforts; raising up and caring for the clients of CrossOver Recovery Centerwhere men and women work on their recovery from substance abuse. Many of the clients at CrossOver are homeless or livebelow the poverty level. A need identified by CrossOver is basic warm clothing for clients during the winter months.

Please see the below list for items needed. We will collect clothing October 14th through November 12th. A collection box isset-up in the Fellowship Hall. Our outrageous goal is to collect 5,000 items of clothing - remember by staying focusedand intense over time, we can create unbelievable, unstoppable momentum!! We encourage you to invite your family, friendsand neighbors to help with our collection goal! If you have questions please contact Cindy Lawrence.

We are collecting the following new and gently used adult clothing items:

CoatsStocking Caps

GlovesScarvesSocks

Long Johns SweatshirtsCoveralls

Imagine what the people of God could do for the Kingdom of God if they were debt-free.

PARISH NURSING NOTESPARISH NURSING NOTESPARISH NURSING NOTESPARISH NURSING NOTES - NOVEMBER 2012 - NOVEMBER 2012 - NOVEMBER 2012 - NOVEMBER 2012

PARISH NURSING NOTES NOVEMBER 2012 - ALZHEIMER’S AWARENESS MONTH Alzheimer’s disease (AD), named for the physician who first described it in 1906, is a complicated disease affecting the wholefamily, progressing over many years. Early symptoms include: memory loss, confusion about familiar places, taking longerto accomplish normal daily tasks, trouble with finances, poor judgment leading to bad decisions, loss of spontaneity and senseof initiative, and mood and personality changes, increased anxiety and/or aggression. They may seem to be healthy but havemore and more trouble making sense of the world around them. Families often gradually realize that something is wrong withthe individual and seek professional medical help. Once testing is done and a diagnosis is made, it is often a relief, but thestart of a long and complicated journey. Today there are many medications, therapies and support groups that can be usedto help individuals with AD and their families. MEMORY- BOOSTING TIPS

Most people get a little forgetful as they get older. We may forget where we put the car keys or oureyeglasses. We forget the name of the person we were just introduced to or can’t remember whatwe walked into the next room to get. This can be very frustrating. Dr. Anne Fabiny, Chief ofGeriatrics at Cambridge Health Alliance and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard MedicalSchool has some suggestions for memory-boosting tips:! Follow routines, such as leaving your car keys, glasses, and cell phone in the same place every

day so that finding them becomes a “no brainer”.! Slow down and pay attention to what you are doing to give your brain’s memory systems enough

time to create an enduring memory.! Avoid distracting or noisy environments and multitasking - the major memory buster in today’s

fast-paced society.! Get enough sleep, reduce stress, and check with your health care provider to see if any of your

medications affect memory - all potential memory spoilers. I think it also helps to keep your mind sharp by using it! Playing games such as card games, word and number puzzles aregood ways to keep your brain cells working. Reading is good. Staying social, out and among other people, is also good tokeep our minds active as we get older. If you are concerned that your memory slips are a sign of Alzheimer’s disease, most of the time, it is not the case. Scienceshows that the ability to learn new information and recall it after 50 slows down a little. It just takes longer for us to pull it outof our memory bank. Forgetfulness can be a serious issue if it’s starting to interfere with daily tasks and routines, such as managing your healthcare and finances. NOVEMBER 18TH BLOOD DRIVE Don’t forget to sign up at the information table to donate blood on Nov. 18th. The need for blood becomesgreater over the holidays. Your one unit of blood can help 3 people! Make that your gift of self! Bring a friendto also donate! If you are donating, drink a lot of fluids and foods high in iron such as meat, dark green leafy foods, andmaybe raisins at least 3 days prior to the blood drive.

A PSALM FOR THANKSGIVING: PSALM 100Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth. Serve the LORD with gladness;Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the LORD Himself is God;

It is He who has made us and not we ourselves. We are the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise.Give thanks to Him; bless His name. For the Lord is good.

His loving kindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving,Sylvia Carson, RNC, MSN, ARNP, Parish Nurse, Romans 12:12
