“We adjust to your needs”

THE ADJUSTABLE CHAIR

Rise & Recline Ltd. manufacture a range of adjustable chairs with a vast choice of styles, sizes and finishes to suit your customer’s needs that will blend in with their existing décor.

The chairs are available in a wide range of traditional hard wearing dralons, high quality easycare velvets, cheniles, soft supple leather that is pleasing to the touch and a varied range of waterproof fabrics that feel like fabric. Alternatively Rise & Recline can use your customer’s own fabric, if approved, on request.

The inner components used to manufacture the chairs use a strong wood frame the majority being birch wood; our suppliers construct the steel chassis to the highest quality standards. Our lift/recliners have special low friction joints and bearing surfaces to ensure years of smooth, quiet and reliable operation for your user. All our chairs meet or surpass current regulations on flammability.

By listening to our clients and passing on your comments, our workforce and suppliers continue to work together in order that Rise & Recline can ensure that our product range is constantly under review, thus ensuring that we can where appropriate make adjustments and/or improvements to our range of lift/recline chairs.

Should you need the 2-way Tilt-in-Space chair, Walll-hugger, Dual, Trio, 2-way Dual or even one of the Heavy-duty chairs, the care and attention taken by our highly skilled upholsterers is maintained throughout in producing your particular chair. This is maintained by our desire as a company to encourage our upholsterers to maintain and enhance their skills by ongoing/refresher training with a local training college.

What are the benefits of a Rise and Recline chair?

Reclining

The ultimate in luxury for the customer, is to lie back with their feet up and allow the stress of the day to be eased away by listening to music, have a nap or receive a soothing massage from the optional 6 or 10 motor built in therapy system.

Standing

At some stage, the simple task of getting up from a chair or sitting into a chair will become a task for many of us, however by pressing a button this can be an effortless task as the chair will take most of the strain easing pressure on your customer’s arms, legs and hips.

Relaxing

By raising the foot section and reclining the back slightly, the customer will be able to sit and watch the television, read a book etc.

Page 4: Rise & Recline Ltd€¦  · Web viewRise & Recline Ltd shall be entitled to require the purchaser by notice in writing to cease forthwith the use of any of the products in respect

Dynamic leg lift = 9st

The 2-way mechanism used will ensure a smooth movement going into the recline or from recline to the sitting position whilst maintaining the angle of the back and seat during these movements, hence this chair is ideal should you have a client that has a back problem due the chair giving constant back support. The great advantage of having a 2-way mechanism is that the angle of the seat and back does not alter during the recline movement therefore giving support to the back at all times, ideal for a user who has back problem.

The angle of the back can be altered allowing for individual requirements for a specific client; however should the rake of the back require alteration this can be incorporated during production.

Dimensions Available

Seat Height (SH) 15” - 21”Seat Depth (SD) 18” - 21”Seat Width (SW) 16” - 22”Recline Clearance 12” minimum

2-WAY TRIO (25St)

Dynamic leg lift = 9st

The 2-way trio mechanism has all the benefits of the 2 way tilt-in-Space, but has the added advantage of having the trio function which provides either a 10, 20 or 30 degree lift option. The 10° lift provides the chair with a good 10” of vertical lift. The lift function can be altered by the shop on site if the user's requirements change. The 30° lift is that of the standard 2-way tilt-in-space mechanism. The 20° lift is half way between vertical lift and the normal 2-way movement. The Trio is a truly functional chair.

WALL-HUGGER SINGLE MOTOR (18St)Revised Feb 2017 – Version 12

Page 5: Rise & Recline Ltd€¦  · Web viewRise & Recline Ltd shall be entitled to require the purchaser by notice in writing to cease forthwith the use of any of the products in respect

Dynamic leg lift = 5st

This mechanism has a similar movement to that of the 3-way in so much that it will recline to a comfortable position and then lift to a near standing position allowing the user to stand along with maintaining some support behind them. There are two main advantages of the wall-hugger over the standard 3-way mechanism –

1. The chair will only require approximately 4” clear space and not 12” at the back of the chair to allow recline without compromising the limited space that the user may have.

2. The user will be able to raise the footrest up and obtain the TV position, this allows for the position of having the feet up and still have a upright sitting position before the back moves to a recline position.

3. The chair has an initial flat lift when going to the standing position; this reduces the user feeling as though they may be slipping out of the chair before they are ready to move out of the chair.

NB: - Spring scissors are fitted to prevent entrapment as a safety measure in addition to plastic finger guard shields to prevent injury.

Dimensions Available

Seat Height 17½” - 21”Seat Depth 18” – 21”Seat Width 18” - 22”

NB. All chair measurements have a tolerance of +/- ½”

Should there be a requirement to have a chair manufactured to dimensions that differ to those listed, please contact a staff member of Rise & Recline who would be able to assist you in ensuring that we can produce the chair to your requirements.

DUAL MOTOR (18St – L&P) / (20St – Seminar)

Dynamic leg lift = 5st – L&P / 6st Seminar

The dual motor mechanism allows the user to have full and independent control of the back and footrest that means they can raise the footrest without having to recline the back. The dual motor also allows the user to lift the footrest and recline the back allowing a comfortable sleeping position. Once again the chair will rise to aid the user into standing position; this allows them to stand with some support behind them.

The 2-way Tilt-in-Space Dual mechanism used will ensure a smooth movement going into the recline or from recline to the sitting position whilst maintaining the angle of the back and seat during these movements, hence this chair is ideal should you have a client that has a back problem due the chair giving constant back support. The great advantage of having a 2-way Dual mechanism is that the angle of the back can be altered therefore allowing you to individually adjust your back to suit your posture.

each air pocket can be sealed after initial positioning of the user. Provides skin integrity protection through low sheers repositioning and there is no upper weight limit.

Elite Dynamic Air Cushion – A very high risk seating solution, which is easy to install. Used in hospital and homecare environments. The alternating air system provides the benefit of 24 hour pressure relief. The Elite cushion combines alternating therapy with optimum user comfort. Max patient weight = 25st. Dimensions are 17” x 17” x 4”

Removable Arm – This option is to enable your client to transfer from a wheelchair into a rise/recline chair with minimal difficulty. There are 3 types of system. One is where the arm is removed before transfer and then replaced once the transfer has been completed. The other swings open to allow the user to slide onto the chair, position themselves then close it back to its original position. The other type lifts up at the front of the chair towards the back to enable side transfer. It is then pulled back down into place.

Castors – The castors can be attached to either the front of the chair or the back, however it has to be stressed that Rise & Recline will not fit 4 castors as a matter of safety.

Massage Relaxor 10-motor massage system + small heat pad within the lumber region, this system is integrated within the chair and has 5 -zones. The user has the facility to control the speed & intensity of each zone along with the ability to set the massage programme.

Freedom Pack – Similar to a battery back-up, but means the chair can be operated without having to be plugged in. as the battery unit attaches to the inside of the chair. The system needs plugging in for recharging purposes. Anti-Entrapment Unit - Rise & Recline strongly recommend that consideration by you and your user be given to having this fitted for safety! The Anti-Entrapment unit will greatly reduce the chance of entrapment on our range of chairs.

The system is a software based control unit; it was initially designed to operate linear actuators on power operated lift/recline chairs. It uses a capacitive strip that can detect entrapment underneath the chair and dependant on the direction of operation will either stop the chair motion, or stop and reverse the motion away from entrapment.

SETTEE'S AND STATIC CHAIRS – Hand crafted to complement any of the 6 styles of chair that Rise and Recline Ltd manufacture, the 2 and 3 seater settees provide the perfect solution for those who enjoy sitting together. FABRICS

Dralon – Standard range of fabric in a number of colours, however we would not recommend this fabric for a person who is likely to be sat for long periods due to heat creases.

Easycare Velvet – An easy care fabric of woven polyester that has been Teflon coated. The fabric is soft and luxurious to the touch with a large selection of colours.

Leather – The chairs can be manufactured using leather. Please see below for important information relating to leather chairs.

Vinyl – A waterproof fabric that is easy to use, easy to clean, flame retardant to Crib 5 and suitable for heavy domestic and contract upholstery.

Panvelle – A waterproof fabric that differs in feel & texture to the vinyl, but shares all of the qualities. It has a soft warm textile handle allowing the user to have a chair that feels as though it has been produced from standard fabric.

Ultra – Luxurious simulated leather engineered for durability. Extremely hard wearing, but luxurious in texture and feel. Waterproof, woven with climate control technologies, stain resistant and soft to touch.

Customers Own – Rise & Recline will be happy to manufacture a chair using the users own fabric if required, but care must be taken to ensure it meets the standard fire regulations. If it does not, it must be treated to this level or inter-liner must be used before upholstering the said fabric.

Fabric Protection – The fabric protection used by R&R is a non-solvent based protection and is applied to the whole chair.

Care & Cleaning of your Chair

Revised Feb 2017 – Version 12

Page 11: Rise & Recline Ltd€¦  · Web viewRise & Recline Ltd shall be entitled to require the purchaser by notice in writing to cease forthwith the use of any of the products in respect

SPILLS should be blotted up immediately with a clean towel, if the spill is of a staining nature, i.e. coffee, urine, red wine etc., consult a specialist cleaning service found in Yellow Pages under Carpet and Upholstery Cleaners. (This is at your own discretion).

LIGHT SOILING of fabrics can easily be cleaned by using luke warm water ONLY. Upholstery is best cleaned by using a soft sponge or cloth, and gently dabbing; pat dry with a soft cloth. Gently wipe in the direction of the nap. Do not flood with water.

HEAVY SOILING of fabrics can cause marking especially on the arms, seats and headrest areas. Consult a cleaning specialist service, which will be able to advise you on the cost and cleaning method suitable for your chair. Do not over wet the area.

CREASING is likely to occur on upholstery which has a velvet feel to its fabric. This is particularly noticeable on armrests and seat cushions and is due to pressure. However this is a natural characteristic of this fine fabric and does not in any way whatsoever detract from the exceptional hard wearing qualities of the cut pile material. The application of a clean hot damp towel to the affected area will help raise the nap. Follow this by brushing the nap back in the direction of its “lay” when dry. This should remove most stubborn creases.

DO NOT soak the fabric as this may cause the backing to shrink.

If your upholstery is used for long hours in a day it will benefit from a rest. During long hours of sitting, heat and pressure build up between your body, the fabric and the filling materials. These materials require a period of time to recover and breath. Foam will regain their natural shape and fabric will fluff up. Overnight is a good period of recovery time.

Please note your chair may not be waterproof. It should be protected by a suitable waterproof barrier to prevent accidental spillage of liquids.

If in doubt always consult a specialist cleaning service.

Useful information on the Natural Characteristics of Leather Hide

Real leather is a natural product. It breathes; it is warm and has individual characteristics which are the natural charm and beauty of real hide. As a natural product however, it will display traces of its past such as brand marks, healed scars, neck growth lines, veins and areas of differing fibre density and hair pore structure. These marks all appear in high quality leather and are not defects. Natural leather proudly bears these marks as hallmarks of its origin. These individual characteristics and marks have been accumulated gradually over the years; they are not weakening defects and will not shorten the life of the leather. In fact, they are considered to enhance the appearance and distinguish natural leather from imitations. If you find these markings, then you can be confident that you have purchased real leather. In the first few weeks of using leather furniture it will acquire further natural creases and wrinkles as the fillings settle down.

Shade VariationNo two hides are totally identical and due to the variations in grain structure and fibre density as mentioned above, the dyes and finishes penetrate to differing degrees into the various parts of the hide to give attractive variations. Whilst every attempt is made to achieve uniformity this is not always possible. Each hide is unique, patterns and colour samples should always be regarded as no more than a guide.Due to modern tanning processes and the desire of consumers, leather now has a more glove like feel, and will maintain this suppleness during the lifetime of the leather. It is therefore, quite different from the leathers used in furniture of days gone by. The combination of these factors means that during the first few weeks of use, wrinkles and creases will form naturally in the leather. This is quite normal and should not cause concern. They are designed into the furniture and give the soft and inviting look which is an inherent quality of leather upholstered furniture.

CleaningDust leather furniture regularly with a soft cloth – leather pores can be kept free from dust particles and grime by regular vacuuming, ideally once a week. Occasional overall cleaning should be carried out by wiping over by a tepid solution of pure soaping agent (such as Lux flakes or Dreft) applied using a damp cloth, but taking care not to over-wet the leather. Polishes, creams, detergents, varnishes and stain removers should be avoided. They may cause damage to the leather. Check carefully the cleaning instructions for each type of leather

MaintenanceLighter colours of leather may become permanently stained by coming into contact with non colour fast fabrics or clothing. Denim jeans, and sweat pants are particular culprits. Never sit on leather furniture when wearing denim or similar clothing that is damp. Wet hair and some hair care products may also have a similar effect. Additionally newspapers can also leave traces of ink on leather furniture, and can permanently discolour the finish. Dye transfer resulting from these causes will not be accepted as a claim against a leather manufacturer. Leather upholstery should not be exposed to bright sunlight, as this will likely result in fading. Protect leather furnishings by drawing curtains or blinds. Also, avoid having leather upholstery close to radiators. Heat causes drying out, cracking and removal of preservative oils and waxes. Beware of clothing which contains buckles or rivets since these can damage leather finishes. Similarly care should be exercised when allowing children’s toys or house pets near leather furnishings since these can easily scratch the finish.

If in doubt, seek professional advice. Manufacturers will not be liable for defects caused through non compliance of the above instructions.

Helpful Hints:

Low voltage can damage the motor. Too many appliances on the same circuit could cause a problem.

Do not smoke while resting in your chair.

Keep canes, walkers, or other items from becoming entangled in the lifting or reclining mechanism.

Do not allow anyone to sit on your lap, or on the arm of the chair, or on the footrest while operating the chair.

If your chair is equipped with a full heat pad, massage & heat system, be sure to switch them off when not in use.

Keep the underside of the chair dust free.

Chair Location:

You will want to place your chair in the room where it will be most convenient for you, such as near the television, radio, reading light, and table, or other furniture.

With wall-hugger chairs, you will need to ensure that you leave enough space (4”) behind the chair in order that it can recline without causing damage. With 2 – way and 3 – way’s at least 12” needs to be allowed.

Do not allow any objects to restrict movement of the footrest. Some carpets have a plush pile that can rub on the bottom of the footrest, and this can damage the mechanism.

Another IMPORTANT consideration is how to get out of the chair should the power fail, or you feel unwell whilst in the recline position with nobody to assist you. Keep the telephone or other means of communicating with someone within easy reach of your chair.

Pocket Sprung MattressesRise & Recline Ltd offer a range of pocket sprung mattresses. The most common is the 8” standard pocket sprung mattress, which is made up of springs (around 450 in a 3ft mattress), which are designed to contour on an adjustable bed. The springs are basically smaller and pocketed so that they can move without breaking or bending out of shape. The only massage that can be used with this type of mattress is the VRT bolt on system. All pocket sprung mattresses require turning and rotating on a monthly basis. The luxury Pocket Sprung Mattress contains the same number of springs as the standard mattresses, but has more wadding and padding surrounding the springs. This makes the depth to around 9 – 10”.

Foam MattressesRise & Recline Ltd offers a range of foam mattresses that meet the requirements of a large cross section of the population.

It is our goal to ensure that only quality components are used in the manufacture of the foam mattresses that we offer along with reliability.

REFLEXION Foam

Memory Foam Mattress

The Memory Mattress is a remarkable mattress for the adjustable bed market, in that it has two distinct layers, which carry out different but equally important functions.

This particular mattress aids restful, relaxed and comfortable sleep is vital for the good health of body and mind – and yet many thousands of people suffer discomfort and disturbed night’s sleep. The Memory foam offers your customer a mattress that will offer the correct support and distribute the pressure evenly over the surface of the mattress.

The Memory Foam Mattress has been medically developed and tested to ensure a good night’s sleep every night.

Here’s how it works.

This particular mattress comprises of two distinct layers, of which the upper layer has the Vasco 60 (Visco-Elastic Cellular Polymer) and the lower layer being one of the Reflex foam depending upon your customer’s weight.

The Visco-Elastic has the desirable qualities of being both energy absorbing and temperature-sensitive. This high-density material responds to natural body heat and forms to the body’s shape, creating a reflection of the body contours. No matter the customer’s body weight, the Visco-Elastic spreads the sleeper’s weight so that when equilibrium is achieved, the sleeper is subjected to the least possible pressure.

The combination of these characteristics creates a unique revolution in mattress design. The Visco-Elastic foam responds to body heat, softening at the points of higher pressure and distributing load over a larger proportion of the body surface – behaving in a similar way to a waterbed. It stops the blood pressure being increased at the pressure points and thus allows the body to breathe and circulate naturally. It also decreases the cause of bedsores.

By spreading pressure more evenly over the sleeper’s surface area, the Reflexion Memory Mattress promotes greater sleeping comfort and relief to joints and muscles, whilst also improving circulation. This reduces the need for your customer to toss and turn throughout the night, eliminating unnecessary wear and tear on your customer and so further enhancing sleep quality.

It is essential that when placing an order for a complete bed or mattress on its own that your customer’s weight be noted. This will ensure that the mattress itself achieves the most outstanding levels of performance, shape retention and long-term durability.

Up to 18 stone 400X (white)Over 18 stone 650S/FN.B. For 24-hour use, it is recommended that 650S or 650F Reflex is used.

All Memory Foam Mattresses are produced in a Comfort Posture (CP) fabric, which allows the mattress to move both ways (top – bottom & side – side), allowing the Visco-Elastic to move and mould to the body for ultimate comfort efficiency. This type of cover does cause the mattress to get warm. If you do not like to be hot when you sleep an alternative cover is available called a “coolmax” cover. The draws the excess heat away from the body, therefore regulating the temperature of the user at a comfortable level.

Latex

Latex – is a completely natural product obtained from the bark of a tree. The actual resin quickly solidifies and becomes rubbery and elastic.

Modern techniques over the centuries have made Latex one of the world’s basic commodities, and different methods and treatments of manufacturing Latex-based products increases its everyday use.

Due to its molecular structure, Latex can withstand extreme stretching (up to 170%) without reaching breaking strain or suffering any alterations to its original shape.

Latex Mattress – Can be supplied as a total Latex mattress (8” thick) that will have the same benefits as the Reflexion mattress in reducing pressure points for the user, without the need for body heat.

Latex/Reflex – is another option available that will allow the user to have a mattress supplied with a 2½” latex top and a Reflex base that will correspond to the user’s weight.

Caring For Your MattressCongratulations on purchasing your new mattress.

Your Mattress has been manufactured specifically to your own requirements, and to ensure that you have trouble free use. We have only used Vita foam components in this mattress.

After Delivery

Please ensure that the protective polythene cover is disposed of carefully, as this can be hazardous to children.

Looking after your Mattress

All our pocket sprung mattresses are supplied with handles in order that you can manoeuvre turn and reverse (when appropriate) as necessary.

Be careful not to fold or roll your foam mattress if it has an integrated massage system installed as this may disturb the positioning of the massage motors, it may also damage the edge support of your mattress. Care should also be taken not to use the edge of your mattress as a seat; as such localised pressure of the interior may spoil its shape and comfort.

Your mattress can be cleaned with a soft brush or vacuumed. Do not use bleach, chemical or detergent cleaners on the fabric as this can cause staining and damage to the material.

N.B. Metric dimensions used in the ordering, manufacture of your mattress is the nearest practical conversion from the imperial size.

THE ADJUSTABLE BEDElectrical Adjustable Beds

The electrical adjustable beds have been specially designed to give one of the best night’s sleep you will ever likely to have.

By slightly elevating your head and legs into the contour position, you will find a dramatic effect and will achieve a much deeper sounder sleep with stiffness in the lower back and neck reduced.

Sleep studies have shown that the average person moves up to 60 times a night, which includes about 12 full body turns. The reason you move is because your brain is telling you that your body is uncomfortable.

Aching muscles, numbness caused by restricted circulation, and compression of internal organs all cause you to move in your sleep.

Obviously if you have ailments such as Bad Back, Rheumatism, Arthritis or other medical problems this only helps to make matters worse.

Your bodies discomfort rouses the brain asking you to change position.

As the brain does not get the chance to fall into a deep refreshing sleep, this leaves you with an exhausted feeling, when you awake, which in turn affects the rest of your waking day.

By reducing the number of times you move in your sleep, enhances the sleeping hours, and you will awake fresh and eager to face the new day.

Of course there are many more benefits of Electrical Adjustable Beds.

The Raised Head position may help:

Asthma sufferers – Breathing problems – Emphysema sufferers – Sinusitis

The Raised Leg position may help:

Poor Circulation – Muscular problems – To ease Rheumatic pain in the hips, Knees and Ankles – Sciatic sufferers – Fluid retention – Varicose Veins.

The Contour position may help:

Back pain sufferers – Muscle aches and pains in all parts of the body – Shoulder tension – Rheumatic aches and pains – Hip problems – Stress and Tension – Plus of course a good night’s sleep.

The adjustable bed provides comfort should you wish to sit and read in bed, watch television or eat in bed. The bed is a boon for anyone who has to spend long days in bed recuperating from an illness or accident.

Wooden Slatted Actions

All beds manufactured by Rise & Recline feature a laminated beech wood slatted action, and are the standard 5-part with 4-movement slatted action.

The Swiss devised slatted actions for beds over fifty years ago and they now feature in almost 80% of beds sold throughout Europe.

The slatted actions have been designed in such a way to give support to the natural alignment of the spinal column, conforming to your bodies’ own natural curves. The action is made up of up to twenty eight (28) convex flexible laminated beech wood slats attached to the side rails by a series of specially designed shoes.

Each slat will individually flex to the contour of the sleepers body shape and weight. This system provides the correct support and in effect customises the individuals sleep area.

When incorporated in an electrical adjustable bed, a slatted action complements the desired effect of achieving a neutral sleeping position.

There are different systems available, the most effective being a five (5) way slatted action, which features an elevating head and back section, a fixed centre section with comfort zone and elevating leg and foot section.

Electric Motor

Our slatted actions that are fitted within our adjustable beds have an OKIN motor fitted, which have been specially designed for use with our range of bed products.

The OKIN motor features two separate motors in one assembly, one motor to operate the head, and one motor to operate the foot end of the bed.

By having separate motors you can adjust each end of the bed to suit your own special requirements, to any one of hundreds of settings. The motors are low voltage, very quiet in operation, extremely safe and have easy to use handsets.

Bed Bases

All our bed bases have been specially designed to fit into a normal bedroom setting, so when the bed action is down in the flat position it is possible to tell our bed apart from any standard bed.

All Rise & Recline beds have been specifically designed to be sectional (excluding the Cromwell) in order that the installation can be completed with minimal disturbance to the customer and with the least man power (possible with 1 engineer). The bed frame can be set up within 3 minutes due to the ease of the manufacture of the bed surrounds and the fastening blocks used.

The bases are fully padded and upholstered in a wide range of standard fabrics selected by the customer. The inside of the base is also upholstered to ensure that the whole bed is of a high quality finish. The base height also is made that it stops the mattress from sliding sideways. Other manufacturers have the mattress level with the side of the bed.
