Introduction:When you set yourself a challenge against the odds and embark on a journey knowing that the hardware you have to hand has to last, then it pays to select kit that can take a few kicks. With this in mind and in preparation for our expeditions to Ecuador & Colombia later this year, we decided to take the GETAC M230N2 for a test run.
Specific Requirements:
Supply a ‘go anywhere/ do anything’ hi-spec field computer powerful enough to edit a broadcast HD production (source: CANON 5DMK2) NLE software: Adobe CS5 Premiere Pro
Solution:
GETAC M230N2 (modified to 64Bit OS). Mil Spec 641F, Duo Core @ 2.8GHz, 4G DDR, shock mounted 320HDD, touch screen, GPS, GSM, running 7.

Mission One: Arid Region TestLocation : Sudan
Overview:
Lying in a remote arid region of Sudan, with temperatures climbing to 47+, the Pyramids of Mer0ë supplied a spectacular backdrop for our HD edit tests.
A sand storm added complication causing havoc with the new cameras however the GETAC handled it all with easy.
