At Rio Tierra, every student has the opportunity to reach their fullest academic and social potenal. Our dedicated teachers and staff demonstrate, guide, engage and support your student(s) through the learning process using curriculum that is aligned to the Common Core State Standards. We use various assessment tools to know where our students are achieving and to guide our teachersdaily instrucon. We understand that you have entrusted us with the care, safety and educaon of your student. The staff and faculty members at Rio Tierra are commied to supporng your students growth and preparaon for a successful high school experience. Excellence in Education Rio Tierra Junior High School is very proud of its dynamic team of outstanding staff members and students. We offer a wide range of learning opportunies. Students are placed in educa- onal programs based on their needs and to best prepare them for high school. We offer students the opportunity of the following programs: Special Educaon Tutorial Program MASTERS Character Counts Accelerated Reader IXL Math Advancement Via Individual Determinaon (AVID) English Language Learners (ELL) We also offer several exploratory classes that idenfy, capture and support students interest: Music Choir Computers Leadership Digital Media Spanish Art Genius Hour (6th grade) Advanced Coursework & Programs Rio Tierra Junior High School offers the following advanced courses: 7th and 8th grade ELA 7th and 8th grade Science 7th and 8th grade History Mathemacs Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) Preliminary Scholasc Assessment Test (PSAT) Co-Curricular Education Rio Tierra provides several opportunies for students to extend their leaning before and aſter school with staff members. These co-curricular acvies are the foundaon of posive interacon and relaonship building with staff members. When students get involved in some sort of acvity, team, or club at school, they begin to envision school life in a more opportunisc approach.
