STATEMENT OF THE PURPOSE OF THE PORTFOLIO

The primary purpose of the student teaching experience is to provide us with a carefully mentored experience to help us develop and enhance the knowledge, skills, and

dispositions necessary to positively impact student learning and development. Practice teaching includes experiences in observing other teachers, assisting the cooperating

teacher, working with principals and teachers, attending seminars, and participating in selected activities in the out-of-school environment which impact the curriculum, the

teachers, and the learners.

Student teaching is a training for us future teachers, so that we can already face the reality of being a teacher. This training experience is really a big help for our future, so

that we can have insights of being a teacher and what are happening in the actual classroom.

PERSONAL EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY

'People change. And I can change people by teaching'

I believe of what Joyce Meyer says, 'Teachers can change lives with just the right mix of chalk and challenges.'

Who could ever knew that an ordinary student before become a teacher? Many wondered and keep asking me, why did you take education, instead the course that you like? You are shy person I knew in my entire life and now you take education?

And I answered them, 'People change. And I can change people by teaching'

I admit it, it's hard for me to take an education course, because first of all, I hate speaking in front of many people. But there is a saying that you only live once (YOLO), so I take risk. As time goes by, I'm starting to like it and now I'm loving it. There are several challenges I faced, the trials that I really fear of, but then it was ended successfully. I thought teaching is only discussion and more blah blah blah. But because of the on-the-job-trainings we've take and done, I had realized that teaching is challenging and yet it's fun. It's like I'm just storytelling to them.

Once I had a student who is very stubborn and naughty. He doesn't like to participate in the class. So as a teacher, I made more activities to make all my students participate by not because they have to but because they want to. The following days, I've seen him participating on my class and I always checking their notes, that's why I can monitor who are taking notes and who are not. And every dismissal time, he always greeting me and sometimes do whatever I give him a task. And I saw his grades that are getting higher. My co-teacher wondering why her student is getting like that. It feels good that some of your students are getting promoted in their grades and get inspired to you. I'm also inspired to them and really learn a lot from them.

PERSONAL INSIGHTS ON THE PRE-SERVICE TRAINING EXPERIENCES

Page 13: Rio Table of Contents

FIRST WEEK

JANUARY 5-9, 2015

The long wait is over, it is the first day of teaching.

I'm handling Grade 8 section Philippines and Oman. 12:10 is the start of the class. My cooperating teacher is Ms. Ria N. Cadag. I started my first teaching on the day of tuesday. It was nervous at the start but when it was repeated, at the other class, I feel confident. There are some students who dont want to write or take down notes, instead, they listen on the discussion. On wednesday, is a review day, I reviewed 3 class and there are some topics that didn't tackled that's why I have to discuss it to them. January 8 and 9 is third grading exam. On thursday, Sir Morales give us duty: which is giving and switching of test papers from different sections of Grade 9. On the second day, I was on the advisory class of my cooperating teacher and I assist her in giving test papers and collecting it after.

SECOND WEEK

JANUARY 12-14, 2015

Fourth Quarter Begins

3rd Quarter's topic was Mechanical Drafting, and on 4th Quarter, is Electrical Installation and Maintenance. Since I don't have any idea on electrical, I ask help on google and youtube, I've researched and I realized it was way too hard !! Some of the students keep on asking and telling what is that, and when I can't answer, I have to tell them that they have to research about it as their assignment.

THIRD WEEK

JANUARY 20-23, 2015

LONG VACATION?

You can feel the tiredness, the want of long vacation. This week has no heavy task at all. After the papal visit, the students start to absent, starting to prepare themselves because in thursday is field trip day. But it doesn't mean that there will be no classes. There are still students come to school but few only. The students combine together according to grade level, grade 7, grade 8 and grade 9.

Page 14: Rio Table of Contents

FOURTH WEEK

JANUARY 26-30, 2015

BACK TO NORMAL DAYS

On monday, the division office of caloocan visited cielito zamora high school. And before that, we STs have done inventory in T.L.E. Room. I had prepared two lessons on this week, electrical tools and materials. And after that, a quiz to be done on thursday and friday made by me. My CT is absent on friday cause it's her birthday.

END OF THE MONTH -- CHALLENGING YET WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE

Woah, its been a month passed and it ws just like yesterday. My experience is very challenging, not because I handle lower section, but because students are hyper and active in discussion. I thought I can't make it, then I realized that I was just storytelling to them and it was fun. The challenging most is I'm not really good in electrical installation maintenance, but because of the help of google and youtube, I really gain knowledge about it and I'm learning to love it.

FIFTH WEEK

FEBRUARY 2-6, 2015

PROJECT !!

On monday, I wrote the on the board the topic for this week, common wire splices and joints. I'd given them the assignment in which they will bring wires #16 and #14 on wednesday. On tuesday, I discussed on first two class only, Ma'am Garcia, one of the TLE teachers there is absent, that's why I had given a task to take charge on her class, which are the grade 9 Portugal, Poland and Italy. I could say that Italy is the most noisiest among them. On wednesday and thursday, are the days for making their project, the wire splices and joints. and on friday, was the giving of cards.

SIXTH WEEK

FEBRUARY 9-13, 2015

Page 15: Rio Table of Contents

CHALLENGING TOPICS

On monday, I teach conversion. Since I hate math that much, its hard for me to teach in front of the class >_<. I've done so many research just to deliver it well to the class and make so many activities so that students may also challenge about our topic. The next day, I teach the parts of the multitester. On wednesday, I teach another topic which is common electrical symbols used in electrical. On the next days, the 4 sections had their 2nd quiz.

SEVENTH WEEK

FEBRUARY 17-20, 2015

FINAL DEMO PREPARATION

I had to adjust my topic so that I will teach on my demo aobut the electrical wiring diagram. it must be risk and hazard but my co-ST will demo it also. On the following days, the 4 sections had copied their notes and made an activity which is draw the electrical symbols on a one piece of oslo paper. February 16 is Caloocan Day and February 19 is Chinese New year, that's why we have only 3 days to come in school.

EIGHTH WEEK

FEBRUARY 23-24, 2015

THE JUDGMENT DAY-- I mean, DEMO WEEK

I had discussed about the electrical wiring diagram on my demonstration. At the end, I know I didn't done right. There are many negative comments on the observers and yet still thankful that I didn't take a Re-demo. I can feel that my professor, the TLE head, the assistant principal and most especially to my cooperating teacher feel disappointed in my performance in teaching, and I'm so sorry about it.

END OF THE MONTH -- LEARN FROM EXPERIENCES

I can call this month as an extreme experience I ever had, and after the trials I face, still I'm very thankful that I did it, FINALLY. Many topics that are new to me, the students are quite busy because of the projects etc., and unfortunately, I deserve the grades that had given to me. And from that experience, I really learn from it. From the comments and advices they had given to me is so much helpful to me.

Page 16: Rio Table of Contents

NINTH WEEK

MARCH 2-6, 2015

PRE-FINALS AND RECORDING GRADES

The students had their exams on monday and tuesday. It is recorded and graded. and on the remaining days, I had discussed the remaining topics on the learning module. and this week, me and my cooperating teacher compute for the last grade this quarter.

TENTH WEEK

MARCH 9-13, 2015

THE 4TH QUARTER ENDS

This week is been a tiring week, the number of students are getting bigger, because the final exam is on March 12 and 13 2015. Those students who are only present on exam days are called special child. They didn’t done anything, such as project, activities that’s why its hard to compute for their grades, cause there is no grade at all.

ELEVENTH WEEK

MARCH 16-20, 2015

THE MAPEH MONTH CELEBRATION

The students from different levels, am and pm, preparing a field mass demo for the mapeh month celebration that will be held on March 20 and 21, 2015. And this week is been a super tiring week for all teachers who have advisory class. They had to make many student forms, which is aside from the grades on the card. I help my cooperating teacher on her task so that she can make her task fast. Next week will be our last day on Cielito Zamora High School. And honestly speaking, I will miss it.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SITE OF PRACTICE TEACHING

Page 17: Rio Table of Contents

HISTORYCielito Zamora High School was called as ‘Camarin High School Cielito Zamora Annex’ before. It is located in the heart of Cielito Homes and Cristina Homes, Caloocan City. It is barely 15 minutes drive from Novaliches proper. It is specifically situated in front of barangay 177.

It was establish in 1986 with Mrs. Adoracion Ramirez as the principal. There were three levels, the first year, second year and third year. It had a total enrolment of 306 with eight teachers. The students were housed in a four room building in the same campus where the elementary building was situated. It was constructed by Mr. and Mrs. Zamora and was donated to Caloocan government. The students did not have a place to rest and relax, and most of all, no library to study and research during free time.

The enrolment had increased to 17.32 percent with 10 teachers with complete high school from First year to Fourth year. The high school stayed in the elementary compound for five years. Mrs. Adoracion Ramirez was the principal from the year 1986-1991. From 1991-1994 Mrs. Lucila de Guzman was the principal. The year 1991 was a lucky year for the students and teachers. It was the same year that the new Head Teacher was assigned in the person of Mrs. Clarita Martinz. Although the school had the building, it still lacked facilities like library, canteen and playground where the students should stay and held their activities.

With the collaborated efforts of Mrs. De Guzman and Mrs. Martinez the new building was constructed in the eastern part of Cristina Homes. Mrs. Fornoles was assigned as the new principal, it was on October 3, 1993 when the third and fourth year students were moved to the new building. Mrs. Marinez transferred to Pangarap High School and Mr. Victoria was appointed as the new School Head in November 1996. With his initiative, the first building was named Rizal, occupied by the First and Second year students while the Bonifacio Building was occupied by the Third and Fourth Year students.

Mr. Tirso R. Dela Cruz was now the present principal of CIelito Zamora High School. And Cielito before was divided into two, annex I (Rizal Campus today) which is the main campus and annex II (Bonifacio Campus).

1. What kind of friend are you?

2. In what way do you treasure your friendship?

3. What are your talents?

4. What are the movements and the flow of the cars in the road?

Start the discussion with a story telling titled: “Kwentong Guro”

C. Developmental Activities

Discussion of the topic: ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM

Two types of diagram:

1. Pictorial Diagram - a sketch of electrical circuit that shows the external appearance of each component.

2. Schematic Diagram - a sketch showing the components of the circuit using standard electrical symbols.

Page 31: Rio Table of Contents

Two types of Circuit:

1. Series Circuit - a circuit in which lamps are arranged in a chain, so that the current has only one path to take.

2. Parallel Circuit - a circuit in which lamps are connected across the wires. The voltage across each load on parallel circuit is the same.

Electrical Plan - a graphical presentation of electrical wiring connections to install in

a particular house or building. It indicates the position of electrical

fixtures such as convenience outlets, switches, lightings, door bells,

and others to be installed.

D. Application

Direction: Bring out your things: bond paper or oslo paper, pencil, foot rule and a blue

ballpen. Draw your own electrical plan. First, you have to sketch your house plan, its

design and the location of living room, dining room, bedroom and comfort room. Then

using the blue ballpen, sketch the electrical symbols and to where it must be located.

E. Generalization

The electric current not stop flowing. A circuit is a closed loop that electrons can travel

in. A source of electricity, such as a battery, provides electrical energy in the circuit.

Unless the circuit is complete, that is, making a full circle back to the electrical source,

no electrons will move.

F. Evaluation

QUIZ: Direction: Identify the following:

Pictorial Diagram 1. It is a sketch of electrical circuit that shows the external

appearance.

Page 33: Rio Table of Contents

Parallel Circuit 2. A circuit in which lamps are connected across the wires.

Series Circuit 3. A circuit in which lamps are arranged in a chain.

Electrical Plan 4. A graphical presentation of electrical wiring connections in a

particular house or building.

Schematic Diagram 5. A sketch showing the components of the circuit using electrical

symbols.

G. Assignment

Direction: Write your answers on 1 whole sheet of paper.

1. What are the different electrical signs? List down at least 5.

2. What are the 5s methodologies?

3. What are the 6 personal protective equipment gadget?

4. List at least 3 things you should do to make your tools and work area clean.
