BlackPearl Resources (BPR) required a network upgrade at one of their remote field locations in Northern Alberta. The project was unique because the SAGD Plant was designed to be completely self sufficient and not dependent on any outside resources. This included managing and generating their own power.

How Rigstar provided a solution

First, Rigstar acknowledged BPR's recommendations to provide their remote Blackrod facility with Internet connectivity, while provisioning a layer 3 circuit back to their head office in Calgary, AB. The facility also had no cellular coverage and required a solution.

Second, Our company completed a site survey that provided an in-depth overview of the location and the requirements to deliver a reliable network that includes the following deliverables:

1. The construction and commissioning of a 120' CSA tower - path profile determined recommeded height2. Two-Way Radio Repeater installation3. SCADA installation - 4 RTU sites4. Cellular enhancement - Carrier Grade Node M

Third, Our in-house Network Team documented all the goals and objectives required for this project, along with milestones that outline the dates of the deliverables.

Finally, Rigstar presented the network diagram to BlackPearl Resources that outlined the scope of work, cost and schedule.
