and write their own story books including pop up books. The children
have role- played stories out such as ‘The gingerbread man’. They
thoroughly enjoyed this activity and being part of a group.

Gardening & Nature Club – Spring 1 Year 5/6 2018-19
Oh my
gosh -
they are
growing!
Children in years 5 and 6 had a challenge in the school
allotment area to relocate the mound of bark chippings from the
garden area to around the planting beds. This meant copious
collecting with buckets and wheelbarrows to transport easier.
Pupils understood that during the winter months maintenance and
preparation still needs to be carried out to ensure that areas are
there for growing healthy crops and plants.
Children then got the seeds ready for the whole school planting
project on the allotment ready and prepared the planting trays for
each class.
They need to be
planted at the end
of March or they
will die!
Year 5/6 pupils researched
vegetables and their sowing
and planting information on
the computer.
Plane making Club Year - Spring 1
The children in Years 2 and 3
have been making paper
aeroplanes using a variety of
different folds, some of which
have been tricky. They have had
to learn to be accurate when
folding to obtain the best results.
Having made their planes much
enjoyment had been had when
flying them. A very enjoyable
club that has been well attended.
Watch this Mrs
Homer. I’m
really proud of
this! Poppy

The Children have had the opportunity to explore various Construction
materials and have had the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas
of things they could construct. They have improved their knowledge by
discussing and watching buildings being constructed on the IWB and
learnt ways of overcoming obstacles when constructing, such as use a
larger wooden block as the base of the building for buildings such as
houses etc. Over the weeks the children have had the chance to work
independently, in pairs and in small groups. They thoroughly enjoyed the
sessions.
“I constructed
the same as the
picture(Boat.)”
Regan
“They use diggers to
make foundations.”

Origami Club – Spring 2
We have had lots of fun this half term in origami club!
Throughout the half term, we have been developing our design and creativity skills to create a
range of origami sculptures. We have had to be resilient and determined to achieve when
things got tricky, as it is not always easy to create origami sculptures. However, using our
growth mind-set, we were able to get it!
We created things such as bookmarks, ninja stars, dogs and tulips for Mother’s Day. We used
our creativity to colour in our designs and make them our own. We are also so proud of what
we have achieved.
“I have
learnt a
new skill.”
Dante
“My fish is

bright,” Evie
