IMPACT ON your hr role?
futureworkplace
Best in Class HR / LEARNING will make bold implementation changes.
It is not about changing the “end result goals.” We still need actions tied to business results.
The goal is to focus on “how.”
1. ENABLE: “Enablement.” Vs. Control. Shift to user generated content.
2. EXPERTISE: Focus on methods to speed “time to expertise.”
3. SPEED: Reduce gap between “discovery to adoption.”
4. SEPARATE KNOWLEDGE and SKILL: Specific differentiation between knowledge learning and skill capability
5. SOCIAL COMMUNITIES: Create communities to enable learning

TABLETS replace physical textbooks
Will create rapid learning opportunities in education and corporations.“The book will never die. But the textbook probably will,” says Inkling CEO Matt MacInnis. Inkling is working directly with textbook publishers. First, they’ll port their existing tomes onto Apple’s iPad as interactive, socialized objects. Then, they’ll create all-new learning modules — interactive, social, and mobile — that leave ink-on-paper textbooks in the dust.
The ten-person San Francisco startup, stacked with pedigreed veterans of Microsoft and Google, Harvard, MIT and Stanford, came out of stealth mode after this morning’s iPad launch. Funded with about $1M in seed money led by Ram Shriram and Mitch Kapor, Inkling is working with McGraw-Hill, Pearson and other top textbook makers.

KM+learning merge
Knowledge doubles every year, resulting in the merge of knowledge management and learning merge. Knowledge management from the ‘90s was an idea ahead of its time. With the advent of advanced search and Web 2.0 features such as rating and tagging, the fields merge. Example: uCern
futureworkplace
Accreditation
Learning functions set the accreditation standards for organizations. Instead of focusing on how people learn, the learning function will accredit that people have learned and demonstrated proficiency. Example: Sun Sales University
futureworkplace
Focus on ORM – online reputation management
70% of hiring managers in in US have rejected candidate just because of their online reputation. HR departments and recruitment professionals are scanning tweets, blog posts, photos, and other online profiles of job candidates before offering them positions.
