Market Update Home Sales Are Up &
Homes on the Market …
The number of homes on the market is still at all-time lows! What does this mean to you? If you’re thinking about selling your home, now really is a great time because buyers don’t have a big selection to choose from… adding your home to their search can result in your home selling much quicker than it would have in the past!
Home prices rose in nearly 90% of the nation’s largest metropolitan areas at the end of 2012. Meanwhile, the number of homes for sale continued to drop, pushing up property values for the 11th consecutive month. Expert’s credit heightened buyer interest and a tightening supply of homes for sale for this seller’s market materializing across the country.
The average price for a single property home across the country rose 10% to $178,900, the strongest year-over-year price increase since the fourth quarter of 2005!

From My Home TO Yours… Monthly Tips From -Rick Sedberry
One of Hammond’s long-standing restaurants,
Murphy’s Seafood, is one of my families favorite
places to eat. The restaurant has a modern décor
while still feeling like you are eating at a friend’s
house for dinner!
The cuisine is so great it fit’s everyone’s preferences.
The baked, fried, or broiled seafood & pasta dishes
will have you wanting more! They even offer a
flame-broiled hamburger that’s a hit with the kids!
A favorite dish of mine is the Eggplant Sara. The dish
includes fried eggplant sitting atop a large bowl of
pasta swimming in a crawfish cream sauce. Come
hungry, but be prepared to leave with some to take
home for later. Other favorites are the homemade
onion rings, their homemade soups & their salad bar
full of fresh veggies, fruit, and pasta!
Whatever you try on the menu, I know you will not
be disappointed. The servers make you feel like part
of the Murphy’s family and don’t be surprised when
owners Philip & Valarie stop by to say hello. This
family service is one of the reasons Murphy’s
Seafood has been around for over 45 years. Make
sure you tell them I sent you & enjoy! : )

Mold is a nasty problem that many homeowners have to deal with at
some degree at least once in their life.
There are many mold removal products on the market, but using vinegar or borax & water for small – medium mold areas will do the trick. Bleach is a popular choice, but it is not able to penetrate into porous surfaces (drywall, wood), the chlorine remaining at the surface while the water is absorbed, providing more moisture for the mold. Other effective solutions are tea tree oil, baking soda or hydrogen peroxide, along with proper ventilation to remove excess moisture. Here’s hoping you never have to worry about mold!

4 Cups Non Quick Oats 1 Cup Almonds, Pecans or Hazelnuts 3/4 Cup Dried Cranberries or Cherries 1/2 Cup packed Dark Brown Sugar
Pinch of Kosher Salt Pinch of Ground Cinnamon 1/3 Cup Coconut Oil 1/4 cup Pure Honey 2 Tablespoons Sugar 2 Teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees and lightly oil a baking sheet. In a large bowl, toss together the oats, nuts, fruit, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon. In a small saucepan, combine the oil, honey, and sugar. Heat the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Remove the pan from the heat, stir in the vanilla, and pour it over the oat mixture. Toss the mixture until all the dry ingredients are coated with the honey mixture. Spread the mixture out on the prepared baking sheet. Bake the granola until very golden and fragrant, 30-40 minutes, stirring it well every 10 minutes or so. Enjoy & be ready to make MORE!
