Dear Parents and Community Members
School Focus Term 3 We had a visit on Monday from Mrs Mayo and Dr Foster. The staff and students had a chance to meet with Mrs Mayo and talk about their work and achievements for the semester. This was a great opportunity to talk through the successes the staff have had over the past six months and the significant progress made.
On a similar note, I would like to thank all at the school for the positive welcome and support for the school over the course of my time here as Principal. I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work at Richmond, and see how infectious the community spirit is and how strong all feel about their town. The students at Richmond SS are superb, they have a great outlook on life, and supportive approach toward their peers. At the end of the day I do believe that it is the students and community that make the school, and that the greater the involvement the stronger the school. I encourage all parents and community members to get involved and be a part of the education of the students here at Richmond State School.
Chaplain It is with best wishes I would like to both thank and say all the best to our school Chaplain. Caleb has informed the P&C and School that this will be his last term in the role as Richmond SS Chaplain. I know he will be missed within the school, but he will not be leaving Richmond, as he will continue in the community. It will be a different role for Caleb but one I am sure will continue to bring him into the school and supporting the Richmond community in a myriad of other facets. All the Best Chappy, and best wishes from all at Richmond SS.
Sport Day – Do not forget that the school athletics carnival is this Wednesday. Do not forget to make sure you have sunscreen and drink plenty of water throughout the day.
RI – Please note we have had to change the date for > Steve Cavill < to the 20th of June. Outback Aerial Mission is coming to school (Flying Pastor). As we find out more regarding his itinerary, we will let everyone know what will happen at school.
Field Day I would like to take the time to thank the P&C and all that volunteered to help on the day. It is encouraging to see the number of people helping and supporting the school through the P&C.
I would also like to thank Mr McLeod and Mr Theodore for the long hours in the school tuckshop.
School review We have a date for the school review. It will be in term 3 on the 16th to the 19th of September. This will be a great opportunity to gain some insights into how we are going and what direction the school will need to head for continued improvement.
Attendance – Every day counts. Attendance at school is very important. A day
here and there does eventually add up.

Same Day Student Absences Notification The safety and wellbeing of students are the highest priorities for the department. Parents need to know if their child hasn’t turned up for school. Schools need to know when and why a child is absent. State schools notify parents on the same day that any student is absent without an explanation. If you don’t answer the phone a message will be left for you to contact the school as soon as possible. If your child/ren are absent from school it is imperative that you contact the school before 8.30am.
