Thank you to everyone who welcomed me back. Another year is flying by at RESS and it is hard to believe that it is week 4 already. Last Monday we had Pupil Free Day. The teachers spent the day working on the development of the School’s Strategic plan for the next four years. There was a lot of discussion and lots of ideas of ‘where to next’ which was fabulous. This will be on ongoing process for the rest of the term. Last week many of our students went to Camp Warrawee. There were many excited students and teachers on the morning that they leſt. There were many smiles and some nerves for the first mers. Thank you to Miss Mackie, Mrs Munro, Mr Tebbu, Miss Hall and Miss Was for giving up your me to make this experience awesome and unforgeable for our students. I am sure that they had a lot of fun! This year we have changed our Academic Assembly procedure and have celebrated our students successes every term. At the end of this term we will celebrate the Top Student and Most Improved Students across the Year levels of P-5 (the Year 6 students will celebrate at graduaon) in Reading, Wring and Mathemacs. On Friday the 11th October 4D, 4M and 4B went on an excursion to the local park on Cormorant Street in Inala. The students participated in an action packed day with members of the Brisbane City Council’s “Bush Neighbours Program”. During the day, each class engaged in a number of rotational activities that included “a tracks and scats hunt”, “tree planting and pollution catching game” and an “Indigenous cultural experience” where students learnt how to make fire and throw a boomerang. At the end of the day, students watched a short performance on protecting our habitats and met “Sid the Squirrel Glider” before the short walk back to school. The students enjoyed every moment of the excursion and learnt a lot about the flora and fauna that inhabit our local environment.

Last week we celebrated with Mrs Schumacher on 20 years service at our
wonderful school. Her husband, children and grandson also joined
us for the celebrations. Mrs Schu attended this
school as a child and is now one of our
teacher aides. Great work Mrs Schu!
