Educational Technology is the effective use of technological tools in learning. As a concept, it concerns an array of tools, such as media, machines and networking hardware, as well as considering underlying theoretical perspectives for this effective application.

What is Educational Technology ??

Instructional Technology

Instructional Technology is the art and study of building a learning system and also building a feedback mechanism into the learning system in such a way that the system is sensitive to the dynamics of each individuals learning experience as well as the whole of everyone’s experience and it is built in such a way that the system is ever improving in it’s effectiveness and delivery of the subject matter.

Is a practice of educating students about different technology and engineering concept as they relate to the ” human made “ world. This can be done at any point in a student’s educational career, however the Technology Education Undergrade Program at Florida A and U university produce educators that will teach either middle or high schools.

Technology BOON or BANE ?? It is a BOON if it is a blessing and a timely benefit for everybody. With technology there is a lot that we can do which we could not do thenIt is a BANE when not used properly, technology becomes a detriment to learning and development. The abuse and misuse of the Internet will have far reaching unfavorable effects of the moral life.

THE ROLES OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY IN

LEARNING

Page 11: Richelle May Palabrica .portfolioinEDTECH

CONSTRUCTIVIST WAY

Technology serves as a PARTNER IN LEARNING.

TRADITIONAL WAY

The learner learns from the technology and the technology serves as a teacher.

Page 12: Richelle May Palabrica .portfolioinEDTECH

TRADITIONAL

It engages learners in active, constructive, intentional, authentic and cooperative learning.

It is assumed that “ knowledge is embedded in the technology and the technology presents that knowledge to a student.”

Computer as a Teacher Tool

The teacher can employ the computer as information tool, communocation tool, constructive tool, co-constructive tool and situating tool.

The computer can provide access information, foster creative social knowldege building , and enhance the communication. Also it can help the teachers and students to focus on more high level cognitive tasks.

Roles Of Technology in Teaching

Page 15: Richelle May Palabrica .portfolioinEDTECH

1. Technology as tools to support knowledge construction:

For representing learner’s ideas, understanding and beliefs For producing organized, multimedia knowledge bases by learner’s.

2. Technology as information vehicles for exploring knowledge to support learning-by-constructing;

For accessing needed information or comparing perspective, beliefs and world views.

Page 16: Richelle May Palabrica .portfolioinEDTECH

4. Technology as a social medium to support learning by conversing:

3. Technology as context to support learning-by-doing:

For representing and simulating meaningful real-world problems, situations and context For representing beliefs, perspectives, arguments and stories of others

For collaborating with others For discussing, arguing and building concensus among members of the community For supporting discourse among knowledge-building communities

Page 17: Richelle May Palabrica .portfolioinEDTECH

5. Technology as intellectual partner to support learning-by-reflecting:

For helping what learners to articulate and represent what they know For reflecting on what they have learned and how they had came to it For supporting learners internal negotiations and meaning making For constructing personal representations of meaning

When used effectively, Research indicates that technology:

1. Augments motivation to learn;

2. Encourages collaborative learning;

3. Support the development of critical thinking skills; and

4. Support the development of problem solving skills

2. CHOOSE APPROPRIATE METHOD (CAM) Selecting the

appropriate methods of teaching

including the strategies and technique

that you will use Will you use inductive or deductive approach ? Specific to general or general to specific.

setting of a specific goal that needs to be achieved it serves as a guide for the teacher and the learners on what to learn

1. DEFINE OBJECTIVE (DO)

Selecting the appropriate experience for the students Selecting the right learning activities for the students Ex. Reading, Writing, Playing, Baking, Dancing, Etc.

3.CHOOSE APPROPRIATE EXPERIENCE (CAE)

Selecting the appropriate materials, equipment and even facilities you will use in achieving your objective Selecting the best instructional material to achieved the best learning outcome

4. SELECTING MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES (SMEF)

Page 24: Richelle May Palabrica .portfolioinEDTECH

5. ASSIGN PERSONNEL ROLES (APR) Assigning or

delegating task to the person in charge to help you meet your objective

application of all the things you planned and prepared in order to meet your objective Engaging with the students Lesson proper

6.IMPLEMENT THE INSTRUCTION (ITI)

Evaluating the outcome of the discussion for us to know if our objective is achieved or not It can be written evaluation or oral evaluation

7. EVALUATE OUTCOMES (EO)

It is a process wherein the students passed the evaluation and you achieved your objective then you can proceed to the new lesson and if the objective is not met or achieved then you will again go back to the process

8. REFINE THE PROCESS (RP)

Learning Through Ed

Tech 1 & 2

Page 28: Richelle May Palabrica .portfolioinEDTECH

Long before technology doesn’t exist, people find many ways to make work easier. But nowadays , when technology exist, the fastest way comes in.

My learning through Ed Tech 1 & 2 is very satisfying yet very informative. We had learned different ways of strategies which is more motivating and interesting. We learned how to work with computers from the basic to intermediate. Through this I am now capable to compete with others because I had gain knowledge through Ed Tech 1 & 2 by the help of our instructor.

Tech

Page 30: Richelle May Palabrica .portfolioinEDTECH

Before, I am very ignorant in terms of computer, but time comes that opportunity leads us to know more about technology.

We the students after Ed Tech is now knowledgeable and informative. I already know how to manipulate and handle computers like those power point, excel, Microsoft word and many more. Through this we are now literate in terms of technology.
