Great food , free flowing alcohol and super bonding past midnight. The next spouse event was a unique night horse racing at the Race course. A first at our club , Derby at night. We had some exceptional speakers for our Monday Meetings, we were fortunate to hear Mr Feroz Abbas Khan in conversation with Ms Mahrukh Inayet. He humbly shared his achievements with us. Famous photographer Mr Atul Kasbekar was questioned by our very own Rotarian Nimish Shah, as usual his wit got the crowd rolling in laughter. We were also fortunate ,thanks to the good offices of IPP Rotarian Manoj Gurshahani we had VIP access to an evening of soulful singing of Kailash Kher followed by the mega event of Karan Johar In conversation with Dada J P Vaswani. A once in a lifetime blessing from the great saint, that we will cherish for the rest our lives. On December 11th our AGM was followed by the introduction of the new board for the next Rotary Year by our incoming President Kaushik Shah. I take this opportunity to wish him and his team all the best on behalf of all Rotarians, spouses and Anns. Our avenues of service were well looked after. From distribution of Sarees, to medical camps to financial support to our supported NGOs. Highlight of this quarter was the unique collection drive For our project CHIRAG. We collected over 21 lacs in 3 days over WhattsApp for over 2100 SOLAR Lamps. More than 110 Rotarians supported this cause. This year, our Christmas celebrations were in 3 locations – EOTO Chembur, A.K.Munshi School and Sanskardham, along with St. Mathews children at the CCI. More than 500 children celebrated a happy Christmas, thanks to our Rotarians. This past 3 months we had 3 firesides at the residences of Rtn Nikhil Shah, Rtn Sanjeev Mehta and Rtn Asif Adiji. My sincere thanks to them and their spouses for hosting the firesides, where more than 100 Rotarians and spouses did some bonding. In conversation with Dada J P Vaswani. A once in a lifetime blessing from the great saint, that we will cherish for the rest our lives. On December 11th our AGM was followed by the introduction of the new board for the next Rotary Year by our incoming President Kaushik Shah. I take this opportunity to wish him and his team all the best on behalf of all Rotarians, spouses and Anns.

Our avenues of service were well looked after. From distribution of Sarees, to medical camps to financial support to our supported NGOs. From 6 pm onwards our Club had organized a unique spouse event, Night Horse Racing at the Race Course. The first race was at 6 pm and the last race at 7.30 pm. It was followed by cocktails and dinner on the Lawns of the Owners Lounge. 129 Members and Spouses enjoyed the thrill and excitement of the races under the lights.

Sobo Cup Final Match

24th November

Our Club had organized a fabulous Diwali Party Kuwwali Night Mughal-e-azam style at the Blue Sea, W o r l i . 2 0 0 p l u s Necklacites socialized throughout the night and bonded as one big family. Rtn Spouse Dr Sunil Vasani, spouse of our new Rtn Arti Vasani, committed to perform 200 cataract surgeries free of cost for the less fortunate.

Beer/Buddy Evening was organized to catch up with our fel low Rotarians & Anns over a glass of chilled beer and some delectable food at the Purple Lounge. It was an evening of c o n s o l i d a t i o n a n d a s s i m i l a t i o n . N e w members were urged to come as this was a great opportunity to know our o l d v e t e r a n s a n d understand, appreciate and applaud the true sp i r i t o f Mumbai 's happiest and most happening Rotary Club. 4 0 M e m b e r s a n d Spouses were present.

The Club had its AGM to adopt the Aud i ted Accounts of RC of M u m b a i Q u e e n ' s Necklace for the RY 2016-17 and Audited Accounts of RC of B o m b a y Q u e e n ' s Necklace Charitable Trust as at 31st March 2017 and as at 30th June 2017. Returning Officer Rtn Vikram Shah declared the results of election for the post of Of fice Bearers and Directors for the RY 2018-19. The venue was Bellssima Lounge.

Our Club had organized V IP passes for an inspirational evening where in Mr Karan J o h a r w a s i n conversation with Rev. Dada J P Vaswani at NSCI Dome. There was live performance by K a i l a s h K h e r. T h e program was hosted by Mr Boman Irani. Our Club had shif ted a Regular Meeting to this meeting. It was attended by 140 members and spouses.

On 4th November Rtn Sandip & Nisha Mehta and Rtn Shilpa Mehta hosted the Third Fireside Meeting followed by dinner at their residence which was attended by 44 members and spouses.

On 26th November Rtn Nikhil & Bhowli Shah hosted the Fourth Fireside over Brunch at their residence which was attended by 29 Members and Spouses.

On 1st December Rtn Asif & Neha Adiji hosted the Fifth Fireside at their residence which was attended by 35 Members and Spouses.

We are indeed grateful to the Rotarians and Annes for graciously hosting the firesides.

Our Club sponsors midday meal on behalf of every Rotarian celebrating his / her birthday and wedding anniversary. On 21s September Rtn Nimesh & Jalpa Shah had organized a food distribution drive for cancer patients outside Wadia hospital. It is a 365 day initiative of feeding about 700 lives daily.

SPONSORING THE COST OF RESIDENTIAL CARE SERVICESAt Jai Vakeel Foundation &nd Research Centre with respect to sponsoring the cost of Residential Care Services offered by Jai Vakeel Foundation and Research Centre to individuals with intellectual disability, Cur club had approved a project cost of Rs 54.5 lakhs to be disbursed over two years Rs 34 lakhs for RY 2017-18 and Rs 20.5 lakhs for RY 2018-19. Of the above, our Club has already released Rs 17 lakhs being the first two instalments of Rs 8.5 lakhs each.

DIWALI CELEBRATIONS WITH STUDENTS OF EOTO

On 14th October from 9 am to 10 am our Club celebrated Diwali with students of EOTO at Amchi Shala, Chembur. This is a new project which our Club is supporting. Each One Teach One works with underprivileged children from municipal and government aided schools. They provide remedial coaching to students from 5th to 10th Standard. A cheque for Rs 6,87,000/- was handed over by Rtn Sonali Sinha and Anne Sapna Jalan. The project was attended by President Rtn Hiten Shah, Rtn Sonali Sinha, Rtn Nikunj Jhaveri and Anne Sapna Jalan.

SUPPORTING KINNARI FOUNDATION

On 3rd Nov our Club handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakhs to Kinnari. Kinnari is a NGO doing impeccable work of suppor t ing chi ld education by generating income through running various extra curricular paid classes. It is run by Anne Asmi Vijay Shah, PP of IW Club of Mumbai Queens Necklace.

On 9th October our Club donated Rs 5 lakhs from Rs 8 lakhs budgeted for education of 78 specially challenged children of SVRR @ Rs 11,000/- per child.

On 28th September Karishma Mehta donated sarees and night gowns to cancer patients. The project was spearheaded by Jalpa Shah at Tata Memorial Hospital.

On 4th October our Club distributed Karishma sarees to students of Rotary Sanskardham School at their school premises. On Tuesday, 14th Nov at 11 am our Club distributed fabric to students of SVRR School.

On 28th November Karishma and Pooja distributed 400 sarees and 100 suit pieces to the patients and family member at the Tata Memorial Hospital. It was very touching to see the patients especially the children.

We are, as always, indeed grateful to Rtn Pooja and Karishma for continuing to organize Sarees and fabrics for distribution to the underprivileged.

SPONSORED FOUR DAYS EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO SHIRDI FOR SPECIAL CHILDREN ON A K MUNSHI SCHOOL

From 15th to 18th November our Club sponsored four days educational trip to Shirdi Rahuri for special children of A K Munshi School. They visited educative and popular tourist places. The entire project cost of Rs 77,500 was sponsored by Rtn Nikesh Parekh and his friends. 40 students 16 girls & 24 boys aged between 15 to 45 years went for the excursion. The children were chirping with joy & happily telling their parents how wonderful the Education Camp was.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS WITH CHILDREN OF EOTO

On 19th December from 10 am to 12 noon our Club had organized a Christmas Party for the 300 children of EOTO Chembur Branch at Amchi Shala, J K Karmalkar Marg, Tilaknagar, Chembur. The activities included card making competition, housie games, dance, distribution of gifts by Santa and ending with sumptuous snacks. The project was attended by Rtn Parool Merchant, Rtn Nikunj Jhaveri, Anne Sapna Jalan and Anne Sunali Parekh.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS WITH SPECIAL CHILDREN OF A K MUNSHI SCHOOL

On 22nd December our Club has organized a Christmas party for the children of AK Munshi School. The project was sponsored by Rtn Nikesh and Sunali Parekh and Rtn Deepak and Anjali Harlalka. The project was attended by President Rtn Hiten and Gopi Shah, Rtn Deepak and Anjali Harlalka, Rtn Nikesh and Sunali Parekh, Rtn Parool Merchant, Rtn Vivek Mathai, Rtn Pradeep Solanki, Rtn Devina Shah, Rtn Rajeev Kapadia, Annes Rajal Kapadia, Ushma Mody, Kajal Parikh, Asmi Shah and Rtn Sunil Mehta's sister.

On 4th and 6th December from 9 am to 12 noon our Club had organized a medical camp for students of Lady Engineer School. 650 students were checked. The camp was organized by Rtn Parool Merchant. A big thank you to Rtn Dr Mrinal Shah, Rtn Dr S h a i l e s h D i v e c h a a n d R t n D r Chandrasekhar Joshi and their team members for conducting the camp. The project was attended by Rtn Parool Merchant, Rtn Devina Shah, Rtn Sonal Jhaveri, Rtn Hiten & Gopi Shah, Rtn Dr Mrinal Shah, Rtn Dr Shailesh Divecha, Rtn Dr Chandrashekhar Joshi, Anne Sonali Parekh and First Lady Gopi Shah.

On 23rd December our Club had organized a Christmas Carnival for 376 children of Rotary Sanskardham Academy, St Mathews School and Regina Pascis Girls Orphanage, Byculla at CCI. Special thanks to Rtn Asif and Neha Adiji for initiating and sponsoring 380 gifts and to Rtn Parool Merchant for organizing the children. CCI Club also gave away food packets to the children. The project was attended by President Rtn Hiten & Gopi Shah, Rtn Shefali Shah, Rtn PP Kalpesh Shah, Rtn Parool Merchant, Rtn Sonal Jhaveri, Rtn PP Anju Siraj, Rtn Nikunj Jhaveri, Rtn Hiten Parikh, Rtn Yojit Gosalia, Rtn PP Bindu Sheth, Annes Rajal Kapadia, Leena Gandhi, Sapna Jalan, Dimple Gosalia, Shweta Kothari, Sumitra Patel, Amishi Mehta & Kajal Parikh.

INTERACT CLUBS

PROJECTS

Interact Club of Rotary Sanskardham Academy

Students of Rotary Sanskardham School won the first prize at the district level for a Marathi play titled “Gopi” and qualified for the state level competition. One of the students got 1st prize as the best comedian. On the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the District Inter School Athletic Meet for Special Children held on 3rd December, Rotary Sanskardham Academy won the Best School Winner Trophy as well as the March Past Winner Trophy. .

Interact Club of Lady Engineer School

Interactor students of Lady Engineer School won first prize in the Art competition during UDAAN held on 29th September 2017. Interactors of St Mathews School won third prize in the dance competition. UDAAN event was attended by Rtn Parool Merchant and Anne Rajal Kapadia.

Interact Club of St Mathews School

Students of the St.Mathews School supported by out Rotary Club keep winning accolades at most of the competitive events that they participate in like boxing, dancing, chess and science exhibitions.Ten students of St Mathews won 9 medals at the under 17 Maharashtra State Boxing Championship for boys at District level. Mathews won 3rd prize in dance competition in P/N Ward. Arbaz of St Mathews School won the finals and clinched the gold medal in Maharashtra State School Games Boxing Championship 2017-18 and was selected for the School Games Boxing National Tournament.St Mathews won overall boxing championship of Uttar Mumbai Krida Mahotsav held at Poisor. On 6th December from P/N Ward, St Mathews School won 5 prizes Congratulations to the Principal and students.

On 20th October Rtn Asif & Neha Adiji visited RC of Quai d'Orsay in Paris and exchanged flags. They had a good discussion on participation in joint projects and global grants. Their Director International visited Mumbai in early November and discussions were held with him.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE - EXCHANGE OF FLAGS

On 4th November our Queen's Warriors played the First Cricket Match for SOBO Cup against RC of Mumbai Hanging Gardens at Oval Maidan. We won the toss and elected to bat. 160 runs in 20 overs and the match was practically ours. Queen's Warriors won the match.

Queen's Warriors won the cricket match against RC of Bombay Bayview on 11th November 2017. Being put to bat we made 189 runs in 20 overs. Some of the Rotarians we owe our victory to are: Samir Haji, Jaideep Sajdeh, Samir Sanghavi, Vinay Kothari, Rakesh Upadhyay, and Anil Chauhan - Man of the Match. A special thanks to Rtn PP Kalpesh Shah and Rtn Rakesh Updadhyay for volunteering to play the match.

On 21st November, Queen's Warriors played the final match for the SOBO cup against RC of Bombay Central. It was a day and night match. We lost the match. Put in to bat in the final we scored 165 runs in 20 overs. It was super hitting of 4 sixes in 5 balls by Vinay and all round performance by the batsmen. We were runners up for the SOBO Cup. Congratulations to the entire Cricket Team !!

GLOBAL GRANT NO 1757467 FOR FUNDING TO SUPPORT EDUCATIONAL EFFORTS AND NEEDS OF GIRIVANVASI EDUCATIONAL TRUST APPROVED BY THE ROTARY FOUNDATIONWe are happy to inform that under Grant No 1757467

our application for funding to support the educational efforts and needs of Girivanvasi Educational Trust in Maharashtra submitted by our Club and RC College Park, has been approved by Rotary Foundation (India) and the Trustees of The Rotary Foundation (TRF). The award is in the amount of $67,633. Congratulations to PP Rtn Akkshay Mehta, Rtn Satish Vora, Rtn PP Sanjiv Mehta and Rtn Asif Adiji for the effort on getting the Grant approved.

PARTICIPATION IN DISTRICT PROGRAMMES & PROJECTS

On Saturday, 23rd September our Club was the Lead Host Club for an Exclusive TRF and Grants Summit for Sobo Clubs at Bellissima Banquets. DG Rtn Prafull Sharma was the Chief Guest. The TRF Seminar was led by Past Presidents Saurin Shah, Radhika Mehta and Akshay Mehta.

District 3141 had organized Rotary World Fest on Sunday 19th November from 12 noon onwards at the Mahalaxmi Race Course. This event was support the thrust areas of infant health, child education, malnutrition, environmental protection and unemployment. . Six Members and Spouses participated in Rotary World Fest from our Club. Our
