Okay, a quick summary of our Novem-ber Vegas trip. It was sold out, so anyonehaving last-minute thoughts of joining uswere out of luck. Bummers.Because this wasn’t actually a reunion
year, the scheduling was loosey goosey—no banquet or formal dinner, but severalpupu parties, full-on karaoke time, slottournament and a Vegas show. The guysheld on as karaoke champions, but therewere rumors that the scoring portion ofthe machine was “experiencing technical
difficulties.” The gals will have to try harder nexttime - and cheat.Highlights included a brain buster of an airplane
game which had us testing our geography skills.Luckily, our Hawaiian Air pilot, Harold Fujii, wonthe game, having us all breathe easier that theflights that he captains will be heading to the rightplace. The slots tournament, was won by Deborah
Parker, and going to see the “Jersey Boys” at thePalazzo had us singing along to Frankie Valli’ssongs from the 60’s.Some of the group went go-cart racing, and of
course, Harold terrorized the track.Vincent Yim, Alan Nishimoto, Ben Flores and com-
pany hit the golf courses with one day a cold snap andanother day of good weather.Dayle (Fujii) Hoopai and her entourage did their
share for the Vegas economy by shopping at severalof the newer malls in Vegas. When the stores see hercoming, they set up additional cash registers. Can’t forget some of the Vegas winners: Brian
Taniguchi with a big win on a special Mr. Woomachine. Wes Mukawa rolled some sweet num-bers at the crap table and Courtney Harrington wonwhat wife Lani lost. Then Cheryl (Miwa) Osumihit a royal flush on the last day we were there.Everyone else just contributed to hotel profitabil-ity, I think. All in all, it was total good fun. First-timers like

There were 43 of us that went to Las Vegas and we all hada great time. It was good to spend the 5 days with everyoneto catch up on what we have been doing the last 40 years!Stewart Hong is considering coming back home after liv-ing on the east coast for more than 25 years. Elton Kodamalives in Arizona and has cruised all over the USA on hisHarley Davidson. I’m sure first-timers Wayne Maeda(banker on Maui) and Brian Kashiwaeda can’t wait till wehave our next Vegas trip! Also first timer Glen Noharabrought his family and now shows up to our committeemeetings. We all missed Janie and Randy Chang! They were the
captains for the girls and boys Las Vegas Karaoke SongCompetition. If you remember in 2004, the girls beat theboys by 3 points. Then in 2006, the guys came back to winit by 2 points. This year there was tension in the hos-pitality suite prior to the competition. I was sur-prised the girls were talking heavy to the guys andwanted some rule changes. That was when Istepped in to officially start the competition. Theappointed captains were Russell and CharShiroma. With the flip of a coin the boys wonand they elected to go after the girls. The girlspicked "Because" and the boys selected "Sad Mov-ies". The score was calculated by the Karaoke ma-chine and the girls scored 91 and the boys squeekedby with 92…end of story! As I sat in the corner of the hospitality suite it was
great to see old friends getting together again. We areall getting older and we remember the good times. No doubtRoosevelt High was one of those good times. I hope all ofyou take a step back in time and come to our 40th ClassReunion in August. If you are not sure then come to ourmonthly mini reunion meetings. For over 30 years the coregroup has been a dozen - now it is over 20, every month!Wes Mukawa makes dinner and it is served at 6:30, meet-ing starts at 7:00 and we're pau at 8:30. This is when thereunion starts, call or email me and surprise us!
Since our 30th Class Reunion, the committee has donated$1,969 worth of concrete benches and tables for RooseveltHigh front courtyard. We held back another $1,969 for our35th reunion because Roosevelt was going thru some reno-vations to their auditorium and football field. Now, for our40th reunion we have set aside another $1,969 for our AlmaMater. Most of the monies have been donated or earned thrufundraising by the reunion committee. We will let you know
