You must be able to give specific reasons for why you have chosen to live in Reynolds’ Texas colony. * GT REQUIRED
Reynolds’ Colony is different from any other colony in Coahuila y Tejas. We promise cheap, affordable acreage for all who qualify. We currently have a doctor and are in the process of building a community church for Christian worship. As with all colonies we expect the very best from our colonists. If you put in the hard work required to support our settlement you will be blessed with many fortunes. Our colony will exempt you and your family from taxes for seven years on everything except tobacco. Forty-one families have settled here with their droves of horses and cattle on the Guadalupe River about one-fourth of a league from Atascosa Road. There are twenty-nine Mexican families expected to join us soon. We look forward to the language classes Mrs. Josie has promised to start once she arrives with her family.
Although we have suffered a brief drought this past fall, spring has brought us a grassy wildness from recent excessive rains. We are becoming a flourishing little settlement; the fields have been cleared and planted. Among other improvements, provisions have been made for watering of the herds of cattle. I soon will finalize an agreement with local tribes to settle border disputes between our colony and the tribal territory north of us. I hope to also start trade with the local indigenous people of the region.
Come join our piece of paradise in Reynolds’ Colony.

EXAMPLE OF LETTER OF INTENT*
November 23, 1824
Dear Mrs. Reynolds,
My name is Pamela and my husband is Scott. We have been
married for more than 20 years. Although Kentucky has
been the home we chose to start our Christian family, we
yearn for adventure. A new start in your colony in Coahuila y
Tejas sounds perfect. We have always worked as leaders and
are good examples of positive living in our community.

Scott and I both support and are involved in church activities.
Scott has served in our local militia and the cattle he raises
are supposed to be the best tasting in all of Kentucky. Since I
am a school teacher, I do many things to help our young
people begin good, successful lives. All five of our children ,
Beth, Anna, George, Ralph and little Frederic, are also hard
working citizens who stay out of trouble and are happy to
help our community become the wonderful place it is today.
We will miss our family and friends in Louisville, but we
know your colony will benefit from hard working and honest
people.
Most Sincerely, * GT
Pam and Scott Reynolds *GT*
