Hola a tots:Heu fet bons propòstis per aquest any?. És una bona idea que cada any ens proposem millorar i aconseguir noves metes perso-nals. En aquest número de la revista et vo-lem aconsellar de la possibilitat de practicar algun esport aquest any. Per què?. Doncs per què és divertit, et relaciones amb nois i noies de la teva edat , comparteixes mo-ments d’alegria i esforç, etcétera.Com veuràs, en aquesta ocasió et vo-lem parlar del Torneig anual (XII) “Ciu-tat d’Esplugues” de bàsquet i també t’explicarem alguna cosa de la història del skateboarding, un esport que agrada molt a la joventut.Però….t’agraden els esports de risc o els esports que són més tranquils?. Ets molt atrevit o prefereixes ser caut?T’agrada bussejar, escalar o llançar-te des d’un avió en paracaigudes? O prefereixes nedar, córrer o jugar a tennis?. Potser et va millor practicar un esport d’equip on com-parteixis il.lusions, triomfs i derrotes? Bàs-quet? Handbol? Hoquei? O bé el rei dels esports, el futbol? En qualsevol cas, el més important és que gaudeixis fent esport!Hi ha una infinitat de possibilitats que a més de millorar el teu aspecte físic t’ajudarà a portar millor el ritme d’estudis que t’exigeix aquest curs. Així que…..ENDAVANT i tria ja el teu esport!!

aim. In this issue of the magazine we’d like to advise

you to do a bit more sport this year. Why? Well….

because it’s fun, you meet boys and girls of your own

age and you share moments of laughter, effort, etc.

As you’ll see, in this issue of the magazine Esplugues

News we’re going to talk about the annual (XII)

“Ciutat d’Esplugues” basketball tournament, and we’ll

also tell you something about the history of skateboarding,

a sport that’s very popular with young people at the

moment.

But….do you prefer risk sports or quieter sports? Are

you a daredevil or a chicken?

Do you like scuba-diving, climbing or skydiving? Or do

you prefer swimming, jogging or playing tennis? Or

perhaps you would rather play team games where you

can share dreams, victories and defeats? Basketball?

Handball? Hockey? Or better still, the king of sports:

football? In any case the important thing is to enjoy

the sport you’re playing.

El Club de Bàsquet Nou Esplugues is our town’s basketball club. Created in 2008, its purpose is to offer boys and girls, and all young people in general, the possibility of practising this sport.In order to do this there are several objectives.First of all, to introduce very young children, from 5 to 8 years old, to this sport.Secondly, to practise a competitive sport with players from 8 to 16 years old.Thirdly, competitions at the club’s higher levels, from 16 years old.Lastly, to carry out parallel activities related to our sport.Among these activities, the highlight for the club’s players and for its supporters and inhabitants of Esplugues is the Junior Basketball Tournament “Ciutat d’Esplugues”.This tournament is held annually at the beginning of January and 8 top level teams take part.The teams taking part this year in tournament number XII are CB MURCIA; CLUB ESTUDIANTES; CB GRAN CANARIA; REAL MADRID; CB UNIÓ MAN-RESANA; CLUB JOVENTUT BADALONA; FC BARCE-LONA and CB NOU ESPLUGUES.This year the winner was CLUB JOVENTUT DE BA-DALONA again.The players who take part in the tournament belong to the Junior category and are aged between 15 and 16. Thanks to their individual quality and to the teams they represent, in a few years some of them become players at top world level Players like Marc Gasol ( Memphis Grizzlis, NBA ), Rudy Fernandez ( Portland Trail Blazers, NBA ), Rodrigo Sanmiguel ( Assignia Manresa, ACB ), Sergio Rodríguez ( Real Madrid, ACB ) o Victor Sada ( FC Barcelona, ACB ) have all taken part in this tournament in Esplu-gues.On behalf of our club, we encourage you to practise sport in general, and if you decide on basketball you can count on us. In any case we hope you will enjoy activities like the “Ciutat d’Esplugues” Basketball Tournament.

El Club de Bàsquet Nou Esplugues es el club de balon-cesto de nuestra ciudad. Creado en el año 2008, tiene como finalidad ofrecer la posibilidad, a los niños/as y jovenes, de practicar este deporte. Para ello, se marcan diferentes objetivos. En primer lugar, la iniciación de niños/as de pequeña edad, 5 a 8 años, en este deporte.En segundo lugar, la práctica deportiva en competición de jugadores entre 8 y 16 años.En tercer lugar, la competición de los equipos superio-res del club, a partir de 16 años.Por último, la realización de actividades paralelas, rela-cionadas con nuestro deporte.Dentro de estas actividades, la de más repercusión para los jugadores del club y para los aficionados y vecinos de Esplugues es el Torneo de Basquet cadete “Ciutat d’Esplugues”.Es un torneo que se celebra anualmente, los primeros días del mes de Enero, y en el que participan 8 equipos de primer nivel.Los equipos participantes en la edición de este año, número XII del torneo, son: CB MURCIA, CLUB ESTU-DIANTES, CB GRAN CANARIA, REAL MADRID, CB i UNIÓ MANRESANA, CLUB JOVENTUT DE BADALONA, FC BARCELONA I CB NOU ESPLUGUES.En esta ocasión el torneo lo ha ganado el CLUB JO-VENTUT BADALONA.Los jugadores participantes en el torneo son de catego-ria cadete, 15 o 16 años, y debido a su calidad indivi-dual y a la de los equipos que representan, algunos de ellos acaban siendo en pocos años jugadores de primer nivel a nivel mundial.Por el torneo de Esplugues han pasado jugadores como: Marc Gasol ( Memphis Grizzlis, NBA ), Rudy Fernandez ( Portland Trail Blazers, NBA ), Rodrigo Sanmiguel ( Assignia Manresa, ACB ), Sergio Rodríguez ( Real Madrid, ACB ) o Victor Sada ( FC Barcelona, ACB ).Desde nuestro club, os animamos a practicar el deporte en general y si os decidís por el baloncesto, podéis con-tar con nosotros. Skateboarding!!!!!It began on the Californian coast in the last century, in the fifties, the idea being to make the journey to the beach to go surfing a bit more entertaining. Straightaway they discovered that on the way there and back they were getting good exercise, having fun and it was like “sailing” on the pavement.Its popularity increased, and at the beginning of the sixties it reached its climax. Then suddenly, in the middle of the decade, its popularity fell and the firms stopped making skateboards. But there were a lot of young people who thought that skateboarding was more than just a fashion and they were reluctant to accept its decline.In 1975 the Zephyr team demonstrated in a way nobody had ever done before just what this sport could do. The amazing abilities of this team gave youngsters an anti feeling that, in a way, can still be felt today.Soon after the Zephyr style was introduced, a skateboarder called Alan Gelfand, known as “Ollie”, invented an exercise which would completely change everything that had been done before.It consisted of hitting the back of the skateboard (or tail) with your foot at the same time as gathering momentum to jump, while the skateboard slipped through the air. This technique, still known nowadays as “Ollie” made such a great impact that most techniques are based on it.Since the end of the eighties there have been countless videos reflecting the talent and ability of well known skateboarders, and this has made young people interested in this sport.It has created trends, not only in the sport itself, but also in the way skaters dress, in music, and consequently in street culture in general.Throughout its history skateboarding has had its good and bad times. Just now it’s doing really well, because it’s a sport that urges young people to discover their own limits. Because, in short, that’s what skateboarding is about, isn’t it?

THE SEKRET is a skateboard championship organised by IMPACT shops in Esplugues, Badalona and Tarragona. Its prestige is widely recognized by skateboarders and by the brands used in the sector.More than 80 skateboarders took part in the last THE SEKRET in 2010 and more participants are expected this year in the third edition.There are no definite dates yet, but it will be held between the months of May and June.Participants can register on the following website:http://www.impactboard.com (Impact Esplugues).

Comenzó concretamente en la década de los 50 del siglo pasado en la costa californiana, como una forma habitual de hacer más distraído el camino de ida y vuelta hacia la playa para la práctica del surf. Enseguida descubrieron que en el camino de ida y vuelta realizaban un buen ejercicio, se diver-tían y les permitía seguir “navegando” sobre el pavimento.Su popularidad fue en aumento hasta principios de los años 60, momento en el cual alcanzó su punto álgido. De repente, a mediados de la década cayó en picado y las empresas deja-ron de producirlos. Pero hubo muchos jóvenes que conside-raban el skateboarding como algo más que una moda y que se resistían a aceptar este hecho. En 1975, el equipo Zephyr hizo una demostración de lo que podía ser este deporte, como nadie lo había hecho anterior-mente. Las sorprendentes habilidades de este equipo desper-taron en los jóvenes una sensación antisistema que, en cierto modo, todavía se deja sentir en la actualidad. Al poco tiempo de introducirse el estilo de Zephyr, un skate-border llamado Alan Gelfand y conocido por el sobrenombre de “Ollie”, inventó un ejercicio que cambiaría por completo todo lo concebido anteriormente. Consistía en golpear con el pie la parte posterior (o tail) del skate, al mismo tiempo que se tomaba impulso para saltar, mientras el skate también se deslizaba por el aire. Este truco conocido todavía hoy como “Ollie” impactó de tal manera, que la mayoría de los trucos se basan en él.Desde finales de los 80 no han dejado de aparecer videos que reflejan el talento y habilidad de conocidos skateborders, lo cual ha despertado el interés de este deporte en los jóvenes. Se han creado tendencias, no sólo en lo referente al deporte en sí mismo, sino en la forma de vestir, en la música y, en consecuencia, en la cultura de la calle en general.A lo largo de su historia ha gozado de momentos buenos y malos. Actualmente vive un momento brillante porque es un deporte que incita a los jóvenes a descubrir sus propios límites. Porque, en definitiva, el skateboarding es eso ¿o no?

THE SEKRET es un campeonato de skateboard organizado por tiendas IMPACT de Esplugues, Badalona y Tarragona que cuenta con reconocido prestigio entre los skaters y marcas del sector. En el último THE SEKRET del 2010 participaron más de 80 skaters y se espera que este año en su 3ª edición se supere el número de participantes.Las fechas no están concretadas todavía, pero serán entre los meses de mayo y junio.
