REVISED AGM VOTING FRIENDS OF THE CROMFORD CANAL - FOURTH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the Annual General Meeting planned for Monday, April 20 th . 2020 at the Church Hall, Ironville, had to be postponed. In order that we may prepared to have a ”virtual meeting”, if the ban on public meetings continues until the Autumn, the trustees have decided to request postal or proxy votes for those members who intended to attend the AGM. By this means we would hope to have sufficient postal and proxy votes for the virtual AGM to be quorate. At the end of this report is a revised voting paper which should be sent in before the end of June with your proxy or postal votes. If we decide that an actual AGM can be held these later votes will be ignored, if you do attend that meeting. The postal and proxy votes already sent to the IWA Head Office, following the first call for postal and proxy votes, will not be affected and will be added to the later postal/proxy votes or the votes cast at the real AGM. Annual Accounts and AGM Minutes We believe that most of our members would prefer to receive the accounts electronically rather than putting our hard earned funds into un-needed printing and postage, so these are available through the FCC website. However, any member who still requires the accounts on paper will be able to receive a copy on request by emailing [email protected] or by writing to :- J.W.Baylis, BEM, Friends of the Cromford Canal, 215 Clipstone Road West, Forest Town, Mansfield. NG19 0HJ At the request of the Charity Commission the Trustee Report and audited accounts for 2019 have already been sent to them; but we would still welcome your approval of the accounts. Election of Trustees As advised in Portal 70 nominations for trustees closed on February 14 th . and we have received the following nominations; their names and a short CV are listed below. As there are only two nominations for two places the election at the meeting will be by a show of hands; however, proxy and postal forms are enclosed for members not attending. As the AGM was postponed the trustees co-opted Richard Handley a trustee up to the AGM; but he will still require election at that time. Trustee Application Statements David Ratner - I have been involved with the Friends of Cromford Canal for over 14 years, doing volunteer work often with an engineering or mechanical bias. Since the arrival of Birdswood, I have been chairman of the Boat Committee; in addition to operation of Birdswood I have designed and built the latest set of new seats and tables for Birdswood. I have been involved in plans to improve the ease of rotation of Brown’s Swing Bridge at High Peak Junction. I look forward to serving another term as trustee. Richard Handley - I am a successful and highly motivated individual with first class interpersonal and presentation skills. My professional background was in public service, ranging from senior management in the NHS, to owning the business relationship with HMG’s Cabinet Office for a leading Commercial supplier. Through 2019 I have been one of the volunteer crew on Birdswood, and have latterly produced the Birdswood Business Plan, and created and published the new FCC eNewsletter and other material. A successful Trustee nomination will mean FCC gains a positive and youthful team player able to contribute business acumen to the organisations strategic aims.
