Students across the country, including at Danville High School in Illinois—my alma mater —and Inglemoor High School in Washington state, have been long-term advocates for Tostan's work in Africa. This month, 43 seventh and eighth grade students at Eastside College Preparatory School in Palo Alto, California had the unique opportunity to participate in a philanthropy project that gave them the power and responsibility to allocate funds they raised to organizations they felt provided solutions to our world's problems. After research, interviews, and lengthy class discussions, they decided to donate $750 to Tostan! Read the full Eastside Prep story here .
