A formal recommendation was made to the Review Advisory Committee at it’s January 2007 meeting for consideration of the following:
• That Metro begins exclusive negotiations with the owners of the Evergreen Cemetery for the space required to re-inter all of the human skeletal remains and artifacts in individual plots adjacent to the Historical Chinese Shrine. The space required should also accommodate space for a memorial.
• That Metro provides funding for the replication of select artifacts as designated by the Ad-Hoc Sub Committee after lengthy public comment on the issue. Three sets should be replicated in order to distribute as follows: Chinese Historical Society of Southern CA, Los Angeles Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association and the incorporation of one set into one of the Boyle Heights stations.
The motion passed unanimously.

• Metro staff began negotiations with Evergreen Cemetery on December 14, 2006 for the area adjacent to the Historic Chinese Memorial Shrine.
• Metro consulted with Feng Shui expert on February 14, 2007. Based on those discussions, Metro determined it would look at alternative locations at Evergreen Cemetery to provide options to Ad-Hoc Sub Committee for their consideration.
• Two additional locations at Evergreen Cemetery are available and appear suitable for the Committee’s consideration.
• During discussions with Evergreen Cemetery, Metro requested that all sites that are considered for re-interment be certified to ensure that there are no previous burials below.

• Metro staff began exclusive negotiations with the representatives of Evergreen Cemetery on December 14, 2006.
• Important considerations for re-interment at Evergreen Cemetery: that the location be certifiable that there are no existing graves beneath the surface and that the location adheres to principles of Feng Shui.
• One additional location at Evergreen Cemetery has been identified in the Park A area. A total of four locations are available for consideration.
• Areas C & D (new location) could accommodate all the human skeletal remains, non-stacked, 3 small coffins per each grave. If either of these areas is selected, the artifacts will need to be buried at a separate location on Evergreen Cemetery.
• Feng Shui analysis on all four locations took place on April 03, 2007.
