“God's love is generous, sacrificial, life-giving, and forever. As humans made in God's image, we are called to imitate the eternal giving and receiving of love that is the Holy Trinity.”

USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities “Another Look at Contraception”

Fourth Sunday of Advent

1. With regards to our celebration of Christmas Masses this year here at St. Joseph’s, I would like to ask us as a parish to take the following to heart. We all know that people who do not usually come to other Masses here will be present for our Christmas liturgies. Therefore, in light of the newborn Messiah, who in His mercy is always generous, compassionate, and understanding, let us treat our guests in a similar way. Let them have “our” usual pews. Go out of your way to welcome them to our parish. And be happy that they have joined us for this one special feast. This is how we make the love of Jesus real, so that maybe they’ll want to come back.

2. Please note there will be no evening Mass and Confessions on December 26

th – I’ll probably be

hibernating that day!

3. Please remember that St. Joseph’s Parish will be joining together with our Knights of Columbus in sponsoring a bus to the March for Life in Washington, D.C. on January 24, 2020. I will be joining in for this very important event. To reserve your seat for ONLY $5, please contact the parish office ASAP at (570) 275-2512!

4. Thinking about maybe joining Fr. Marcoe for the pilgrimage to Greece next September? Have questions? Want more information? Please join us for an information session on Sunday, January 12

th. We’ll meet at about

9:30am in the St. Hubert Library (near the restrooms on the main level of the church).

5. Saint Joseph Parish is seeking the right part-time Music Coordinator. Music degree or equivalent experience preferred, but not required. Experience in accompanying at Catholic Masses and work with choir also preferred. Position requires competent playing of the organ and/or piano at weekend Masses, Holy Days, and other sacramental and devotional services (such as weddings and funerals); also coordinates cantors and directs the parish choir. Interested parties should submit a basic resume and letter of interest to Father Timothy Marcoe, pastor, at [email protected]. Questions can also be directed to Fr. Marcoe via email or at (570) 275-2512, ext. 2.

God bless you and your week – Fr. Marcoe

THE 2019 DIOCESAN ANNUAL CAMPAIGN (formerly known as the Bishop’s Lenten Appeal) is coming to a close. Pledge reminders have been mailed to all donors who have a pledge balance for the 2019 effort. Our parish benefits from the many ministries and educational programs that the Diocese supports. Please be sure to honor your commitment for the Diocesan Annual Campaign. Gifts made before December 31, 2019 may provide tax benefits to you. If you have not made a gift to this year’s campaign, it is not too late. You can make your gift securely online at www.hbgdiocese.org/dac. 100% of the monies collected over our parish goal are returned to the Parish for our use. As you think about your personal philanthropy at the end of the year, please consider your Parish and the many programs supported by the Diocese that benefit our Parish. You can contact the Parish office or the Office of Stewardship & Development at the Diocese for more information.….
