Transcript of Rev. Msgr. John P. Putano, Administrator My soul is ...Sep 03, 2017 · For anyone who would like...
We at Immaculate Conception are a group of people bound together by our belief in Jesus Christ as our Savior. When we were baptized, we were called to share in His work. Therefore we pledge ourselves to build a community where
all are welcomed, loved, needed and appreciated. Armed with the faith in the Immaculate Conception of Mary, we will celebrate the gift of life together in word and sacrament.

A Prayer of Comfort Gather me up, O God, into the healing center of your spirit. Fill places of uncertainty with the assurance of your presence. Sooth my anxious mind with your gentle peace. Hold me with your tenderness when my body is filled with pain. Let me be aware of the hope that glimmers through even the darkest moments. Remind me that nothing shall ever separate me from your love. Rev. John Koopman

Religious Instruction Registration for Children/Youth grades K-10 at ICC
September 2/3 following Mass
A CCD Open House will be on Saturday September 9 from 9-12. Families can come for a tour of the classrooms and the church, check out the curriculum and meet a few of the teachers. New families to Greene and ICC are also welcome. Spread the word! All Classes will begin on Sunday, September 10
You can also download a registration form from our website and send it in to the parish office. Our curriculum follows the liturgical calendar, which means the readings heard in Mass are part of the weekly lesson! Our classes will meet on Sunday mornings from 9-10:00 am. If you would like to join this ministry please contact one of the DRE’s or Mary Wentlent.
New Sunday Nursery
WE will be offering a nursery for our young families beginning Sunday, September 10. The purpose of the nursery is to allow our young families the opportunity to have their baby or toddler supervised in a loving and calm environment while the parents attend Mass. Jean Stevens and Patty Wagner will be running the nursery, with the occasional help of other adults in the parish. This position will be paid with funds from the McDevitt Grant that we received this year. Interested adults can stop at the nursery located in the front room off the social hall on Sundays beginning at 10:00 am. A check in will be required as well as a cell phone number. Parents can also utilize the nursery if they want to use it for only part of the Mass, as their child learns that Mass is a quiet time. “How can there be too many children? That is like saying there are too many flowers. ”St. Teresa of Kolkata
Confirmation Class News: All Confirmation Students should plan to help work the Hot Dog Tent at the Greene Labor Day Festival on Monday September 4. Our shift is from 11:30-
2:30. If you cannot make this you must let Mr. Wentlent know asap.
Dear friends, There was much anticipation around the parish this week. Summer vacation time is over, the nights are cooler and everywhere you go there seems to be an opportunity to buy school supplies! Our parish has had a busy few weeks planning fun and informative events for our parish family. The Diocese Southern Tier Religious Education Coordinator is Andrea Schaeffer, and she presented a 3-hour workshop for 9 of our CCD teachers, called “The Heart of the Catechist”. She had a beautiful way of inspiring our group: “Conversion happens over and over again during our lifetime. God’s love attracts us, and then send us out to others – like the pulse of the heart. Our teachers are called Catechist: they are faithful to the past, open to the future, and dedicated to deepening the faith of the present generation.”
Classes will begin on Sunday, September 10, the same day that the Fall Adult Bible Study begins. The Adult Bible studies have grown into a fun time to learn something new. The adults who attend these faithfully have become good friends and really enjoy this time together. We offer the same study on Sunday morning as Thursday morning, in case your schedule doesn’t cooperate one week. Why not join us this year?
Jessica Trepa will be our Middle School Youth Leader this year. She has some great events planned for each month September through May. She and her husband Jim will be co-teaching the 6-8th grade CCD class on Sunday morning with Trudy
Komperda. This will allow good communication with the parents. Gloria Straniero and I worked on plans for the Youth Mass, usually held the last Sunday of the month. Each grade will have an important part of the Mass to help with. Mark your calendar for Sunday September 24 for the first Youth Mass of the fall. Elsewhere in this bulletin is more information on the nursery which will begin Sunday September 10. We have at least 12 young families with babies and/or toddlers and we hope to help them by offering a positive safe environment for their child while they have some much needed quiet time for prayer. As Andrea said at the end of the retreat: “Remember that you are never alone. God is always with us. Pray often: Lord, strengthen us with
courage!” Thank you for worshipping today at ICC. Peace! ~Mary Wentlent
Wisdom from our Catholic Tradition
““The apostle Paul has said ‘Christ has brought hostility to an end.’ So it is incumbent upon us not to allow that hostility to be resuscitated in us in any way at all. Thus we must not allow ourselves to become resentful or to nurse grudges because these things will threaten the well-being of our souls.”

A Message of Hope... By Elizabeth Manneh 6-5-17 excerpt...
Sometimes it’s hard to feel a connection with those who are different from us, those who have different beliefs or hold opposing political views. Fear of the unknown can make us focus on our differences rather than what we have in common. Living in a large multicultural city has helped me to get to know a wide variety of people from a host of cultures and back-grounds, and this has helped me to look for what brings us closer together, rather than what divides us. When we stand in solidarity with others, we have the power to change the future. When we stand side-by-side, we remember that every-one else is also a living, breathing, feeling per-son. Pope Francis offers a solution to our selfish and wasteful ways: “To Christians, the future does have a name, and its name is Hope.” In today’s language, the word hope implies wishful thinking rather than firm conviction. But the hope we read about in Scripture is totally different. Bible.org defines biblical hope as a “strong and confident expectation,” giving us a firm foundation for believing in the future.
