Second Collection Today for Hurricane Irma Relief
We will take up a second collection at all Masses this weekend to assist the affected areas
impacted by Hurricane Irma. Realizing that this comes on the heels of the special collection for
Hurricane Harvey, we are asked to do our best to support those in Florida and the Caribbean.
The Church has always been a channel for grace and solidarity in the wake of natural disasters
as it offers solace and support in their aftermath. May God bless you for your generosity in this
time of need.

First Friday of the Month
Eucharistic Adoration
Every month on the First Friday Our Divine Lord, present in the Most Blessed Sacrament is exposed for
Adoration in our Parish from 12 noon to 5pm. We encourage all of our parishioners to come and spend
some time in quiet prayer with Our Lord. Some may hesitate because they are not sure what to do with
“quiet” time or how to spend the time. We have made up a small booklet with devotional prayers that
you can offer. Also, there are Scripture passages recommended for your use in prayer during that time;
we will have some Bibles available. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will begin at 5pm to close our
time of Adoration. If you have not visited in the past, please plan to join us on October 6.
Awaken An Encounter with the Theology of the Body

What is this ache in our hearts for connection, for relationship, that even the good things of the world can’t seem
to satisfy? This journey begins and ends with the gift and mystery of our creation as male and female and our
encounter with God, the world, and other people. Come and awaken the wonder and mystery of being human.

OFFICE OF THE CARDINAL
1011 FIRST AVENUE
NEW YORK, NY 10022
September, 2017
Dear friends in the Lord:
As you may imagine, I receive quite a few letters from the faithful every day. No letter cheers me more than that
of a parishioner extolling the dedicated service of his/her pastor. And, as you know, so many of our pastors were
spiritually formed and academically trained at our own Saint Joseph’s Seminary in Dunwoodie, Yonkers.
Our seminarians are the future shepherds of our flock, spiritual guides for our faithful and leaders in our
communities. It is our responsibility, therefore, to ensure that they are as well prepared as possible to serve the
Church here in New York. This year, Saint Joseph’s Seminary begins its 121st year of forming and ordaining holy,
faithful and dedicated priests. Our seminary is held in the highest regard, each year with other dioceses and
religious orders joining our priestly and diaconate formation programs.
With this letter, I invite you to consider, in your own prayer, a sacrificial gift to the Annual Seminary Collection, to
be conducted the weekend of September 30 and October 1. Your support will provide tuition and room and board
for more than forty seminarians of the archdiocese. It also allows us to continue our solid tradition of excellence
in academically training and spiritually forming candidates for priesthood and diaconate. In short, your support
will help prepare young men who will inspire those letters of admiration that I receive daily about so many of our
great priests.
The priesthood is a life of sacrifice and service. As you know, we do not have as many men making the
commitment to serve as priests as we did years ago, and I am so grateful to those who accept the Lord’s call.
Please assist me in providing for our seminarians who will hand on the life and traditions of the Church as they
embark on their training to become your priests.
With prayerful best wishes I am,
Faithfully in Christ,
Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan
Archbishop of New York
