To regain a compelling narrative, the North American church needs to change its story by shifting the plot line from a church-centric to kingdom-centric focus.
Join the Rev. Dr. Reggie McNeal, missional leadership specialist, and explore the many implications of living out a kingdom-centric narrative within the North American church. Learn to better understand God’s work in the world, what’s involved in shifting church culture, and the challenges of leading the movement.
Session Descriptions: A Changing Conversation: The church-centric vs. kingdom-centric understanding of God’s work in the world will be compared and contrasted. Focus will be placed on the call to action, which includes a return to an external focus in ministry and an expanded bandwidth of how the church expresses itself in a post-congregational era.
A Changing Scorecard: What organizations celebrate is an essential component for shifting any culture, including the church. The same resources currently used to operate the institutional church must be reallocated to a kingdom agenda. Doing

so moves the church from merely measuring its own success with its own internal numbers to gauging community health as a sign of the church’s impact. Economic growth, literacy, family stability, and other big societal issues must be addressed by the church.
A Changing Leadership: Managing an institution is different than leading a movement. The church culture requires and produces institutional manag-ers. The kingdom requires spiritual leaders across all domains of culture (business, government, education, health care, the arts). This reality carries implications for pastoral training and the issue of vocation.
