Age Quod Agis Dear Volunteer, Reunions weekend is June 16 – 18 next year and will be here before we know it. I was back for our 45th this past year and it was truly a wonderful experience. Please start talking up your reunion with your classmates. Christine Del Favero and Sarah Wilkins in the Advancement Office will send you your class list. At our 40th, three of my classmates needed a lot of persuading to come back (for the first time since graduation). They have wonderful, productive lives but were nervous because they weren’t “stars” while at School. Nevertheless, they came back, had a great time, and all three are came back last June. We all have classmates who need a little encouragement. As you know, St. Mark’s handles all the logistics – where to stay, where to have your Friday night class dinner, child care, etc. But your outreach is the key. Your classmates will respond best to you. Here’s how to reach Christine and Sarah: Christine Del Favero Phone: (508) 786 – 6286 e-mail: [email protected] Sarah Wilkins Phone: (508) 786 – 6284 e-mail: [email protected] Thanks in advance for your work, and please let me know what I can do to help you. Best wishes,

Bruce Morgan ’70 Alumni Executive Committee Member Annual Fund Chair

Volunteer Structure

A reunion year is a time for alumni to reconnect with each other and the School. The goal is to have every classmate contacted by a reunion volunteer, for both the purposes of encouraging attendance at reunion weekend, and asking him/her to make a financial commitment to St. Mark’s in honor of their reunion. You play an integral part in achieving these goals.

Most reunion classes will have joint committees that oversee both fundraising and weekend planning. If necessary, a committee can nominate a Fundraising Chair and Reunion Planning Chair to help organize their efforts and keep the group on track. All reunion volunteers will work directly with assigned members of the Advancement Office.

A Note about Confidentiality: Please be aware that giving records and contact information for alumni are confidential. Volunteers granted access to this information may do so only to conduct business on behalf of St. Mark’s. This information is not to be shared.

Fundraising

Q. What is a class report?

A. A class report is a document that is provided to each reunion committee for fundraising purposes. It details their classmates past giving to the school, current contact information and ask amount for their reunion gift. We use this document to determine each classmate’s likelihood of giving and define a fundraising and participation goal for each class based on those ratings.

Q. What size gift should I ask my classmates to make?

A. For most classes, our office has assigned an “ask amount” for each classmate and this information can be found

in your class reports. If you feel the assigned ask is too high or low, please contact Christine Del Favero at 508-786-

6286 to adjust the amount.

Q. What is our goal for Fiscal Year 2016–17?

A. The Annual Fund goal for 2016-17 is to exceed $2.26 million and reach 33% alumni participation.

Reunion Giving

Annual Fund Basics Generations of supportive alumni, parents and friends have helped to make St. Mark’s what it is today. Every year, the School relies on the Annual Fund to support vital programs such as financial aid, faculty support, technology enhancements, and unique student programming. Simply put, support of the Annual Fund directly impacts every student and faculty member on campus. The Annual Fund goal for 2016-17 is to exceed $2.26 million.

This year the School aims to increase alumni involvement in the Annual Fund with a significant focus on reunion alumni. Strong alumni participation reflects pride not only for education, but also a commitment to the future of St. Mark’s. Your support is an investment in the School; its mission and vision. Everyone can make a difference by participating, no matter the size of the gift.

Reunion: Your “Best” Gift Reunions are the perfect opportunity for alumni to give back to St. Mark’s by renewing or enhancing their support of the School. SM looks to its reunion classes for increased support by asking reunion celebrants to consider making gifts, in honor of reunion, that are a “stretch” beyond a typical Annual Fund gift.

Methods of Giving There are several ways to make your gift during the School’s fiscal year, which runs from July 1 to June 30. Listed below are the most common ways to make a gift to the St. Mark’s Annual Fund. Please find detailed explanations for each of these methods at www.stmarksschool.org/waystogive.

Please note: Gifts must be made on or before December 31 to receive 2016 tax credit, and, on or before June 30 to receive fiscal year 2016-17 credit.

Online Online gifts can be made at www.stmarksschool.org/give. American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa are accepted.

Checks Check can be made payable to St. Mark’s School, and sent to: Advancement Office P.O. Box 9105 25 Marlboro Road Southborough, MA 01772-9105

Pledges Donors willing to make a commitment to the Annual Fund, but not yet wishing to make a payment, may do this by making a pledge. A pledge is a promise to make a specified payment by the close of the fiscal year (June 30, 2016). In the case of reunion giving, a pledge may be fulfilled over a five-year period, with the first installment due June 30, 2016. Encouraging donors to make a pledge, particularly early in the reunion year, is an important tool for establishing momentum. Pledges can be made by contacting Amy Tesoro, Director of Advancement Services at [email protected] or 508-786-6127.

11

Matching Gifts Many companies participate in matching gift programs. Some companies will even match gifts made by retirees and spouses of employees. Ask your Human Resource Department about matching gifts to discover how you can make your gift go even further. For questions about matching gifts, please contact Amy Tesoro, Director of Advancement Services at [email protected] or 508-786-6127. St. Mark’s School is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Annual Fund gifts are 100% tax-deductible as allowed by law. St. Mark’s federal tax ID number is 04-2103623.

Giving Levels and Societies To learn more about St. Mark’s giving societies visit www.stmarksschool.org/givingsocieties .

Founder’s Associates The Founder’s Associates program is the cornerstone of annual giving to St. Mark’s, recognizing donors who contribute $1,500 or more during the fiscal year. The mission of the program is to build a stronger culture of leadership annual giving to the School, providing a more reliable and predictable source of revenue. Founder’s Associate donors are among the School’s most loyal and generous supporters. All Founder’s Associates are vital members of a community of donors who share a commitment to educating St. Markers for lives of leadership and service. Founder’s Associates receive special recognition in the St. Mark’s Annual Report, invitations to exclusive events with faculty, and an invitation to St. Mark’s on campus special event- our annual Founder’s Associates Dinner. Perhaps most importantly, as a member of the Founder’s Associates, you will have the pride of knowing that you are helping St. Mark’s continue to provide an outstanding experience for its students. We hope you will consider joining this distinguished group of St. Mark’s supporters. The Founder’s Associates program is comprised of eight gift clubs:

Young Alumni Founder’s Associates

For the first 15 years after graduation, young alumni/ae can join this society by making incremental gifts at a

leadership level. This program allows young alumni/ae to gradually increase their giving during the first 15 years after

graduating from St. Mark’s until they reach the $1,500 Founder’s Associates level.
