executive committee Well,byallaccounts,AdeptiCon2007wasthemostsuccessfulAdeptiContodate.This marked AdeptiCon’s fifth year, and while a lot of hard work from a great number of peo-ple goes into making AdeptiCon happen, our success is directly related to you, our attend-ees.ThosethatexperienceAdeptiConcontinuetoreturneveryyearandworktospreadtheAdeptiCon gospel to the masses of Games Workshop hobbyists. Thank you for making Adep-tiCon one of the best Games Workshop hobby experiences found anywhere. AdeptiCon 2007 was a little more than four months ago, and with help from our cre-ative staff, this Retrospective covers the highlights. For me, being apart of AdeptiCon has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. AdeptiCon has given me the opportunity to share the hobby with thousands. It has allowed me to forge friendships all across the Unit-ed States and abroad. It is truly an example of what separates the wargaming hobby from computer and console gaming. AdeptiCon for me is a social gathering; a yearly weekend when old friends converge on Chicago to meet over a few beers and roll some dice.

Everyone involved makes it his or her mission to bring the best possible Games Work-shop gaming experience to Chicago for one weekend a year. To do that means not sitting onoursuccesses, buttotakeinfeedback, evaluateeachaspectoftheconvention, anddeterminewhatwentwellandwhatcouldusesomeimprovement. That process for 2008 started during AdeptiCon 2007. It became clear that we had outgrown a venue that was a very successful location for us. We realized such growth on the Warhammer Fantasy side that we felt the Warhammer Fantasy group deserved more resources dedicated to them. So next year at AdeptiCon 2008, we’ll be changing venues to the Crowne Plaza in Rosemont, IL, located right next to O’Hare International Airport. Be-ing close to the airport makes it more convenient for our attendees, but the most important thing is that our floor space will double to 24,000 square feet.Last year was also something of an experiment. We brought other Games Workshop game lines to the tabletop with a Lord of the Rings tourney, a Battlefleet Gothic tourney, and some AeronauticaImperialisdemos.Allofwhich,we’rehappytosay,receivedverypositivefeed-back. It was evident that while AdeptiCon had grown and our “bread and butter” events continued to do very well, we had a segment of our attendees looking for other side events to participant in. So next year you can look forward to more Specialist Games events, War-hammer Ancient Battles, and more demos, open gaming, and scenario-driven events.

Thanks again for being a part of AdeptiCon – For Gamers, By Gamers. We look forward to seeing you in 2008!

On March 30th, 2007, almost eight hundred Games Workshop Hobbyists converged on the Chicagoland Schaumburg Mariott for the “Can’t Miss” event of the year. The volunteer-run event has become the highlight of the year for many in the Games Workshop hobby, giving them a chance to meet and play with hobbyistst from across the globe, show off their best work, and learn from someofthebest-knownnamesinthehobby.
