Professional Experience

Xerox / Walt Disney Company. Worked since Jan 2013 to Present DayKings Mountain, NCSr. Network Engineer

I am a Sr. Network engineer, my main activities are to lead projects and Tier 3 Network support in Disney’s data center. I am third level support network engineer for Load Balancers (CSS & F5s), Firewalls (Juniper SRX Series, Cisco ASA and Cisco FWSM), Nexus 7000, Nexus 5000 and Nexus 2000. I also manage and troubleshoot Juniper Switches. I analyze Packet captures using our Netscout sniffing solution.

Routing: I create BGP instances for routing on our Nexus 7Ks and Juniper EX Series Switches. I also troubleshoot routing issues (EIGRP or BGP).

Switching: I manage and troubleshoot fabricpath and create and deploy vlans throughout our Data Centers. I manage Cisco 7018 and 5596s. I also add fexes to the environment. I manage & Trouble Juniper Switches. I have advanced NX-OS knowledge. Worked with VPCs as well.

Packet Analysis: I am a Tier 3 support network engineer, I analyze packets to identify where the problem is and identify where we have performance or communications issues. I use Netscout’s Performance Manger, Infinistreams 7995s and PFS 3900s.

Firewall: I create Policies / ACLs, Zones, etc. on Juniper SRX 5800 & Cisco ASA firewalls . I also troubleshoot any firewall issues. I have done code upgrade on these.

Load Balancers: Mainly I create VIPs and troubleshoot the services. F5 Big-IP VIPRION. I have done code upgrade on these.

Achievements

Server Migration: I worked closely with the server team to show them how to document and ask for the correct network settings. This could be requirements for, Switch ports, vlans, ACLs, Firewall, Routing. I also have worked with the Vmware server people to deploy networking solutions.

Manage the IP Addressing: I manage and keep up to date the IP Addressing for 5 Data Centers. I use Vital QIP to accomplish this.

New Requirements / Solutions: There are undocumented request and I need to research and work closely with the customer to identify the exact requirements. This could be for Firewalls, Load Balancers, Routing, & Switching.

Deploy Sniffer Solution: I was responsible for gathering information to setup and rollout 8 sniffer to our 5 Data Centers. This sniffing solution was to analyze traffic on our switching environment. We are monitoring around 336 ports. The solution used is from Netscout. We use PFS 3903, Infinsitream / Sniffer and Performance manager to mine the data of the sniffer.

o Trouble Ticket Documentation: I created a format and process to have the team document trouble tickets to either hand off and or for future reference. This is mainly used to gather evidence of how the network is performing and the various devices that have been checked.

o The way I organize my information: I document thoroughly my incidents and requests, by keeping record of all the e-mail communications, Meeting minutes, contact information, description of the issue or request at hand.

o Documentation Skills: I am a true believer of documentation and I try to document as much as I can, but, always filtering the most important information or what I might need to reference in the future.

Continental, AG. Worked since 2007 to October 2010Cuautla, Morelos, Mexico Network Engineer

I’m a project leader for networking projects, plus third level support LITMs for the United States and Mexico. I was in charge of managing around 8,000 nodes. This was comprised of Cisco Router, Switches, Wireless LAN Controllers, Access Points, Cisco Secure ACS, RADIUS Servers, Call Managers. I also Managed, Nortel Switches and 3Coms and use riverbeds steelhead for WAN optimization / acceleration. The tools to monitor were, Oputils, Opmanager.

Achievements

Wireless Security Improvements Deployment: I coordinated the rollout of the WLAN-G6 wireless network in the USA and Mexico. I worked together with the backbone and client team to automate the deployment to all the laptops with windows XP. Various RADIUS servers were setup (IAS and Cisco Secure ACS). Laptops had the third party wireless utility disabled through an automated script.

High Availability LAN Environment at 5 Locations: I worked together with the Local IT in Cuautla to implement a high availability LAN environment, we migrated from a flat network (one VLAN) to a multi-VLAN environment. We setup 2 core switches (Catalyst 6500s), dual links from each IDF, we integrated the 3com network and setup dual links to make it very reliable. IPX routing was also deployed.

Wireless Expansions: I coordinated with the Local IT the expansion of wireless networks. This included the mounting and configuration of access points as well as configuring Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers to manage and control the wireless environment. The locations where this has been done is AH south, Ciudad Juarez, Sta. Teresa and Culpeper.

In Source L3 Switches: I coordinated the analysis and implementation of L3 switches (Cisco 3550) which allowed us to manage our routing. At some sites we installed two 3550s, this allowed to prepare the site for full redundant IDFs. We setup EIGRP through these sites.

Third Level Support: I was responsible to work and coordinate 35 Local IT staff to troubleshoot and for project deployments. This was for Locations within the US and Mexico

Disaster Recovery: I was part of a team that worked on the design of disaster recovery. My main role was to identify and document the disaster recovery process. We identified third party data centers (eg.The Planet, Cybercon) we had full redundant WAN links with different carriers to the third party data center), we have netapp filers at the data center as well as servers.

Network Management: I lead a team of people, including the each IT department at the locations to develop a Network Management Framework for our company, this was comprised of and not limited to: IP management, Asset Management, Access Control to the network, monitoring, firmware management (IOS versions), Configuration Management, drawings, document procedures to replace equipment, install new, remove, etc.

I was head of 7 people that comprised the IT department. I coordinate all the IT activities. My team and I were in charge of analyzing, designing, testing and implementing a Wireless Metropolitan Network. I also manage new projects for internal use as well as for our customers. We analyze, design, test and implement the following solutions: Firewall, network design (LAN, WAN, Wireless LAN), VPN, Centralized Antivirus (Office Scan), we also implement small VoIP Solutions.

Achievements

Metropolitan Wireless Network: I analyzed, designed, tested, and implemented a Wireless Network in the City of Celaya, Guanajuato. This network was comprised of Motorola Canopy Equipment for the backbone, and for the end user we used WiFi devices, with equipment from AI-Wireless. To control customer access we used Firstspot (Radius / Hotspot Server).

DNS / DHCP Rollout: I analyzed, designed and Implement a DNS network for 30 locations. This included configuring the servers.

Network Security: I analyzed, designed, tested, and implemented a firewall system and a VPN solution with Cisco. We also installed an officescan solution which allowed us to manage the Antivirus clients, as well as set up the firewall rules per client.

Web Servers: I analyzed, designed, tested, and implemented a couple of web servers, running under Red Hat Enterprise, these web servers were running a pinnacle shopping cart for some of our customers, CRM, blogs, e-mail and web server.

Documenting Procedures: We documented and established a standard for documenting all the procedures that we had, for example, how to troubleshoot the internet connection, we also established a standard for change control management.

DVD Development Methodology: We designed a method in order to design and document DVD’s. We developed a guide on how to design and efficient menu driven DVD. This was for the marketing area. We use Adobe CS3 Production Suite to accomplish this.

IP PBX: We implemented various Linksys IP PBX’s, also we’re starting to analyze solutions with Cisco’s IPT.

Monitoring Tools: I analyzed, tested, and implemented network monitoring tools. The tool that was used was OpUtils and OpManger from manageengine.com
