Chief of Police 3+ years. City of Memphis Memphis, MI. 48041 I took over a department that had not had a Chief in six months and that been in l i t igat ion with the previous chief for that per iod of t ime. I created policy where there was none and was highly successful in increasing the size of the department via grants, by obtaining more than six grants in three years. I was able to provide new vehicles and much needed equipment as wel l as lead several County-wide efforts in traff ic and drug enforcement.

Chief of Police 1 year. Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians Petoskey, MI. 49770 This posit ion was one of enormous challenge, in that it was designed to bui ld a pol ice department f rom the ground up. The process was both chal lenging as well as excit ing, allowing me to be creat ive and chal lenged simultaneously. The opportunity to work with another culture such as the Odawa is not of ten found and it proved to be enormously enr iching. I accomplished al l of the expected goals wel l in advance of the given t ime l ines and was able to provide the Tribe with a foundation that would allow rapid and consistent growth.

Director, Washtenaw Police Academy 8 years. Washtenaw Community College Ann Arbor, MI. 48016

I pioneered the addit ion of a Pol ice Academy and the In-Service Training component. This academy grew in reputat ion State wide and was f requently a pi lot test s ite for new courses and was a recognized leader for its innovat ive method of training and advancements. During my tenure I also taught classes in the academic program, including criminal just ice, sociology, and took courses in f ire science and served as the Department Chair of f ive discipl ines.
