FINAL YEAR PROJECT  

 

 

Project Title: Improvement of Clay and Lateritic Soil by Using Tire Chips.  

Supervisor: Puan Norliana Bt Sulaiman 

Scope: This stabilization procedure  involves addition and  thorough mixing of  tire chips with soils, considered 

for developing alternative soil stabilizers for the construction of road foundations. The experimental test would 

be triaxial test, shear box test and compressibility test. Correlations between the parameters investigated were 

also established  to  shed  light on  the  improved  soil properties. From all analysis,  the expected outcome will 

increase the strength and stiffness of the stabilized soil and higher rubber dosages were observed to increase 

the ductility of the stabilized material, transforming the soft materials  into a stronger and stiffer stratum  for 

load bearing.

My  father  involvement  in  the  construction of  lattice  structure makes my passion  into  this particular  career. 

Since I’m in secondary school, I started to learn more about the scope in engineering. It taught me the meaning 

of life, where by life was not spared from engineering. I am willing to learn more about engineering. Therefore,
