The Plot “There is a 17 year old boy that has been adopted and

suffers from a series of problems preventing him from being seen as a regular kid by other kids at school. The story of the film is set in a Psychiatrists clinic (Mental health doctors). While telling his story to the psychiatrist (doctor), he goes through a series of flashbacks from his past, be it good or bad. The flashbacks involve the time he had his first girlfriend, what his social life with his friends was like before his illness kicked in and his family life. By the end of the film will the psychiatrist be of any help to him? Or will his life continue to spiral downwards to the point of no return? Who knows...?”

“Difficulties that are experienced with adoption.”The results came from: • http://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/sites/defau

Why I Chose This Type Of Research

• So that I don’t duplicate what has already been done.

• To get a broader knowledge of what might be possible to create.

Page 11: Results of conducted research

Results and links usedThe plot is going to be based on a real life story.

We have chosen the book, coincidentally named ‘Chosen’, produced by the BAAF (British Association for Adoption Foundation) to conduct this research.

“Chosen should be read by anyone whose life is touched by adoption”http://www.baaf.org.uk/bookshop/book_Chosen

Location

• Primary: Going out and looking at places to set the film ourselves:

• Taking photographs of locations that are likely to be chosen and save them all in a file so we have a mini database of locations.

Why I Chose This Type Of Research

• To see physically what I am working with.• Research could be done through the

internet to find the location, this will allow us to quickly find locations inconveniently situated.

From looking at up to date mental homes and psychiatric institutes, it almost resembles an ordinary house. So there would only need to be shots of the outside of any house.

Why I chose this type of research

Watching other teen films and possibly using what is typical of the genre. I.e. based in a school; Jock, Cheer leaders, Nerds, Regular kids Depending on the plot we can then decide on the characters.

Page 20: Results of conducted research

Results and links used• We will base the character on a typical

teenager that has been adopted I.e. long hair, doesn’t take time on himself with his appearance. (Just an example)

• Again we will use the book Chosen to come up with the character representation.

Why we chose this type of research

If we choose our favourite genre then it could be targeted at and audience that is like us. i.e. if we chose Horror then it could possible attract a limited audience that like the genre horror.

drama/ TV Movie.http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt1347508/

The main character faces all of the problems I’d like the character in my film to face and the message is quite powerful, especially in the monologue at the end of the film.

Page 30: Results of conducted research

Why I chose this type of research

We asked the respondents this because of problems that are so personal. Our film is quite full on and so we don’t bring the mood down, we needed some comments on it.

Page 31: Results of conducted research

The basic concept of the film was liked by many, but as the treatment was very limited, in that it didn’t describe what exactly was in his flashbacks, they got frustrated. The majority of the respondents said they liked it.

Page 32: Results of conducted research
