The Plot of the film

From watching the film, there were many responses our audience gave. The thing that was significant was that they understood the character of David by saying that something isn’t right and his life is monotonous. However, they didn’t get he was a virtual game character or that the game was glitching but this was because have to film some more scenes and those are not yet completed.

Genre

For the film, many people felt the film was either a psychological thriller, drama or psychological drama as they felt it contained elements which were very adult and also something in which the audience isn’t meant to be scared but to also give the idea of being lead to something that is dark and foreboding for the ending.

Music

For the type of music, a mix of classical and electronic music was brought forward as ideas on how we could bring forward more emotion to the film and it could give suspense and mellowness to the life that David Jones has had and what he will continue to have for the rest of his life.

Lighting

When observing the film, many people felt the lighting was suitable and naturalistic due to the fact it showed the time of day. For instance, people commented on how the day got darker with the morning scene being dark but becoming brighter, the office scenes being in daylight and the bedroom scene being extremely dark and also very dimly lit to emphasise the fact to show a linear narrative ranging from the morning to night and emphasise the next day approaching.

Age Rating

When the audience watched our film, a mix of ratings were given for it and whilst we did not ask for their reasoning we feel this may have been due to the fact that whilst it is an adult film it doesn’t give much threat or violence towards people of a younger age. Because of this, we were given U, PG and 12/12A and we were in a position where we can fully understand that whilst it is an adult film, it may not harm younger viewers even though the film does tackle an adult and mature subject.

Possible improvements

After watching the film, many people had said that in order to improve the film, they felt either extra dialogue or captions needed to be onscreen. This was due to the fact that even though the glitches weren’t cut for the film, they felt the film was a bit confusing at times and they didn’t understand stuff like why David was confused and why he couldn’t realise what was happening in his world. They also felt we needed to add music as it lacked the emotion and sympathy to our protagonist in the film.
