Due to extensive communication with NSW Department of Education Assets Management and the ongoing collection of maintenance data relating to our school buildings, I was advised yesterday that our school will soon be undertaking major roof reconstruction to all buildings. This will mean that all of our old tiled rooves will be replaced with new Colourbond, giving our school a new fresh look throughout. It is expected that this work will take place at some stage during 2019 and while there will be major construction taking place, a careful plan will be implemented so that class time is not effected. This is very exciting and a big win for our school! MOTHER’S DAY STALL/BREAKFAST Thank you to everyone who attended our Mother’s Day Breakfast last Friday morning. Feedback from the event has been very positive which is fantastic. Many thanks to Miss I’Anson, Miss Swan and Mrs Formston for the organisation behind the scenes and to the rest of the staff for getting to work so early to make the event a success. Thanks also to our P&C for the organisation of the Mothers’ Day Stall. I hope all our mums had a great day last Sunday and were well and truly spoilt! NAPLAN This week and next week students from Years 3 and 5 are sitting the annual NAPLAN assessments. Due to some schools experiencing connectivity issues yesterday, the assessments were postponed today and will resume on Thursday when hopefully, the issues are resolved. The results from the assessments will be made available during Term 3. If your child is absent for whatever reason throughout the week, a catch up session will be conducted at some stage during the 9 day testing period. As a school that experienced technical difficulties and requested information to send to parents, below is a suggested message provided by ACARA for this purpose: “As you are aware, today was the first day of NAPLAN, which your school is doing online. Unfortunately some connectivity issues were experienced during the test and these issues are currently being investigated. While this isn’t ideal, please be assured we have procedures to follow to minimise any impacts on our students, including rescheduling the test if required. National test authorities have advised they regret any inconvenience this has caused to schools and students, and are working to rectify the issue as soon as possible”.

This week, our whole school focus for PBL is 'The Rights of Others'. At our school, everyone has the right to learn. In the classroom, we respect teachers and other students by listening when they are talking. We complete learning tasks responsibly and treat other students with respect, using kind and encouraging language. In this way, all students are given the opportunity to learn at Woy Woy South. P&C NEWS ELECTION DAY BBQ AND CAKE STALL – WE NEED YOU Woy Woy South is an election day polling booth and we are holding a bbq and cake stall to raise some founds for our students. We are asking all students to get involved by bringing something for the cake stall to school on FRIDAY morning and dropping to the tables outside the canteen. This will in turn mean more funds for our students due to lower costs. We are also in need of some more volunteers so please contact us if you can help out at all, or just turn up on the day. Finally if you are going to vote on Saturday please come to Woy Woy South and buy a sausage sizzle or egg and bacon roll. MOTHERS DAY RAFFLE AND STALL – THANK YOU Thank you to everyone who returned their Mother’s Day Raffle Tickets and congratulations to the winners! If you have any tickets left please return them to the RED P&C Box at the canteen so we can reuse them next time. Also thank you to everyone who helped run our Mother’s Day Stall on Friday. It was such a great day and we had such fun with all the students. PLEASE NOTE- we have had a report that the glass mason jars that contained the hot chocolate/marshmallows may be faulty as one broke when hot water was poured into it. We apologise to anyone that received these as gifts as we were unaware and advise not to fill with hot water. P&C MEETING – FRIDAY 14TH JUNE 9:00AM Our next meeting is Friday 14th June at 9:00am in the Learning Centre. Everyone is welcome, including younger children. We try to have a laugh and a bit of fun so come along and find out who we are and what’s happening.
