Linking School and Community

Dade Partners

Become a partner in education. Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Dade Partners pro-gram offers the business community a unique opportunity to enhance education by join-ing forces with schools to provide: role models for students, career education, resources and enhanced communication between Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the com-munity. The possibilities are infinite.

Internships

The Secondary School Reform (SSR) Plan is a roadmap for substantively altering the educational experience of all middle and senior high school students in the District, to as-sure that future graduates have the skills that they will need to effectively compete in the new global workplace. The key ingredient of this reform is quality internships. The District is looking for community and business partners to offer its high school seniors an unique experience that prepares them for life after graduation.

School Volunteers

The School Volunteer Program welcomes parents, community members, students and business organizations who make a commitment to volunteer in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. These generous groups of volunteers make a significant impact in the lives of our children by providing a wealth of services such as tutoring, chaperoning, men-toring, clerical assistance, painting, landscaping and many others that our schools fully appreciate and embrace!

The Parent Academy

The job of parenting isn’t easy. It doesn’t come with a handbook of answers. That’s why Miami-Dade County Public School created The Parent Academy – a source to help an-swer parent’s questions on topics that impact children’s lives. The free classes and work-shops for parents are offered at more than 90 school sites and non-school sites through-out the county. Support the more than 680,000 parents who are changing the way they get involved with their children’s education.

Alumni Relations

Are you a graduate of Miami-Dade County Public Schools or do you know one? Be at the forefront of the School District’s exiting new promotion to educate students and other stakeholders about the District’s most distinguished alumni and the teachers who had the greatest influence on their lives.

Developing and Maintaining Community Partnerships

Office of Community Engagement

There has never been a better time for school-business partnerships. Economic conditions, on a world basis, are terrible. But education and business must survive and one of the best ways for this to happen is through

PARTNERSHIP.

“The real value of school-business partnership lies in the people-to-people relationships it engenders, not in

the amount of money that changes hands.”

Author, Jim Leatherwood

Excerpts from the book – Facing the Future Together

What is a partnership?

Collaborative efforts to achieve mutually agreed upon goals by matching community resources to meet

identified needs of the school / school system.
