SurveillanceAppointments with oncology practitioner:• Every 3-6 months x 2 years• Every 6-12 months x 3 additional years

until cancer free for 5 years• Changes from these appointments may

be individualized

Mammograms:Patients that have had: Lumpectomy → 1st mammogram six months after therapy then annually for both breasts Single mastectomy → annually Double mastectomy → none

Other:• Hormone Replacement Therapy contraindicated for breast cancer survivors• Women taking Tamoxifen should see a

gynecologist annually & notify their physician of any vaginal bleeding after menopause; certain antidepressants may be contraindicated - ask your doctor.

• The relatively high frequency of severe congenital abnormalities indicates that reliable birth control during tamoxifen treatment is mandatory. After tamoxifen use, a washout period of 2 months is advisable based on the known half-life of tamoxifien.

• Women taking Aromatase Inhibitors may need periodic bone density testing

• Report any changes in the breast/chest wall area including lumps, swelling, or skin rashes, arm swelling, tightness, or pain to your physician

• Report any new symptoms of persistent pain in one area or bone, vision change, or weight loss to your physician
