Vagabond Cruise is excited to host The
University of South Carolina Beaufort’s Coastal
Ecology Program aboard the Research Vessel
Vagabond. This is a one-of-a-kind collaboration
between the island’s original excursion cruise
company and the USCB. Students and faculty
from the university’s Coastal Ecology Program
will be aboard the Vagabond conducting
research on phytoplankton, fish reproduction
and bottlenose dolphins. Researchers will be
deploying trawl nets to collect specimens and
hydrophones to study and record sounds
made by various marine life, including fish
and dolphins. During the cruise, passengers
will have an opportunity to interact with the
researchers as they present and interpret the
day’s results. This research upholds our joint
commitment and dedication to our coastal
ecology, resource conservation and sustainable
