Scotland Games Team Coach 2012/13

Our congratulations go to Carolanne Crawford who has been selected as the Games Trainer for the Scotland Team for the next 2 years. We all wish Carolanne every success. Below is a lovely photograph of Carolanne with our Junior A Team after winning this year’s Scottish Horse of the Year Show games competition. If Carolanne has half the success with the Scotland team as she has had with our Junior A’s this year she will do extremely well.

RESULTS

Winter Team Showjumping

Ingliston – Sunday 29th October

We had originally hoped to put 5 teams out to this competition but unfortunately L&R had to ballot as they were so over subscribed. Also one of our Novice team members, Kirstyn Beattie had to step down as she was part of the winning Novice team last year at this competition, Tierney McCulloch took her place. We also had to loose Allyson Ross from the Intermediate team as her pony was lame and Jenna Letham stepped in.

Our Nursery Novice team of Verity Kennett, Lauren Bell, Christopher Brown and Jennifer Wisdom finished 4th

overall.

Our Novice team of Tierney McCulloch, Rachel Frame, Hannah Broadhurst and Vicky Haddow were not placed.

Our Intermediate team of Laura Mitchell, Meghan Ballantyne, Amy Haddow and Jenna Letham were outstanding. The team finished 1st out of ten, and were the only double clears. Everyone was delighted.

In the Dengie Jenna Letham finished 4th, and Amy Haddow 7th. Laura Mitchell and Allyson Ross both took part but were not placed.

I am sure you will all agree it was a brilliant start to the Team Showjumping season.

We are next competing at Kingsbarn on the 26th of November and Muirmill on the 27th. Good luck to everyone who is taking part.

Tetrathlon

Lyn Barr sent the following report on Rachell Barr and Craig and Drew Armstrong who all competed in the Aberdeen tetrathlon at Hazelhead on the 6th November. Rachel (open girls) - 13th in shoot; 10th in swim and good run of 6mins 05 secs to be 5th in run and placed 9th overall. Craig (junior boys) - 8th in shoot with 820! (high scores); good swim of 8 length 14 metres to be 3rd; 8th in run to be placed 5th overall. Drew (minimus boys) - 3rd in shoot; 2nd in swim with 4 length 17 metres and 3rd in run to end up placed 2nd overall. Good competing by all three on an unusually warm and sunny day in Aberdeen. Drew did especially well moving up a class this year, from mini-mini boys.

The next triathlon is Sunday 27th November in Annan. If you wish any information on the winter series of triathlons, please contact Lyn Barr 01899 308062 or go to www.tetrathlon.org where you will find the dates and lots of information.

Tetrathlon

Rachel Barr was chosen for the Scotland B Team for the Regional Tetrathlon Champs in Peterborough in August. Rachel had an excellent run of 5mins 55secs ending up 13th out of 100 competitors a good swim and a shoot of 800. Round an Open/intermediate course she had two stops which was a great achievement on young horse Quinn. Rachel also competed at the Pony Club Tetrathlon Champs and although eliminated on the x/c course she had another excellent run (16th out of 120 competitors) of 5mins 41secs and a swim of almost 9 lengths.

Eventing

Rachel and Rebecca Hind competed in Sept at Turnberry in the British Eventing 100 under 18 Scottish Champs and finished 5th and 6th respectively, good performances over BE 100 x/c in very wet conditions; 1.10m show jumping course and BE novice dressage test.

Endurance Ride Monday 14th November

Well done to everyone who took part in the endurance ride yesterday, and many thanks to Jennifer Hume for arranging the event. The weather was great and judging by the smiles everyone had a good time.

Jennifer is looking for suggestions for venues for rides and volunteers to get involved in the organisation/setting up of the rides. As with all our events they take a lot of organising and the more parents who get involved the easier they are to run. If you can help at any future event please contact Jennifer on 01698 886153, she would love to hear from you.
