• The Prime Minister lays a floral wreath at the Amar Jawan
Jyoti early in the morning to honour the soldiers who
sacrificed their lives for the nation.
• A two minute silence is observed .
• The President hoists the flag and soon, the National Anthem
is played.

• India became independent on 15th August, 1947.
• It depended on the modified colonial Government of India
Act, 1935.
• Headed by King George VI, until the adoption of the Indian
