Objective

The objective of the workshop was to enhance the knowledge of 1st year students

of Mechanical Engineering Department in the field of Thermal Engineering by

conducting the workshop by the Engineers who are currently working in the

industry. It is used to develop skill and knowledge of the students for the power

sector. By doing this kind of workshop students got more idea about the advance

technology, real industrial working environment, safety precautions, knowledge of

various kinds of equipments etc.

Highlight of Talk

Boiler deals with the study of steam generation in power plant with the help of

different kinds of fuel. The power is generated by prime movers (steam turbines)

in thermal power plant. The steam is utilized to develop power as well for various

kinds of processes.

In this workshop advance technology of boiler like FBC boiler and CFBC boiler,

various advance boiler technology, working principles of all the components in a

boiler, along with its maintenance issues knowledge of advance methodologies

like carbon management, super critical cycles and combustor was discussed during

the workshop. Furthermore following contents was discussed in detail by the

expert.
