NSS unit of Srinivas College of Pharmacy & South Canara District Chemists & Druggists
Association Organised Blood donation camp in association with KMC Hospital, Mangalore &
District Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore on 31st March 2010. Chief Guest Sri. V. V. Prasad
I.R.S, Commissioner of Income Tax, Mangalore, inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp
and called to serve the humanity by blood donation and also highlighted some of the benefits of
blood donation to the students. Sri CA A. Raghavendra Rao President, A.Shama Rao
Foundation, Mangalore in his presidential remarks urged the students to actively involve in
Blood Donation which stands top among other donations like Wealth and Education by which

“SRIVI Cup 2010” was hosted by Srinivas College of Pharmacy for the staff members of
Srinivas Group of Colleges and Vijayalakshmi group of colleges at Srinivas College Stadium
Valachil on 10th April 2010.
It was inaugurated by Sri A. Srinivas Rao, Vice president, A. Shama Rao Foundation.
Dr. A. R. Shabaraya, convenor of this programme welcomed the gathering. Principals and staff
members from all the colleges were present. Event such as Cricket, Volley ball and Throw ball
(for women) were held.

REPORT ON FIRE SAFETY MEASURES
NSS unit of Srinivas College of Pharmacy Mangalore organized Fire Safety Measures on 12th
April 2010. Chief Guest Mr. C. Basavanna, Regional Officer, Fire Extinguishing and
Emergency Help Department, Mangalore detailed about the hazards of fire and how to overcome
the same and also he gave some tips of safety measures in fire accidents. Guest of honours
Dr. B.R. Bhat, Retired Medical Officer and Sri. Panduranga Rao, Vice President, S.K.D.C. &
D.A were present during the function.

Report on the National Seminar on “Recent Developments in the Pharmacological Research Guidelines, Rules & Regulations” held on 24th & 25th May 2010
Srinivas College of Pharmacy Mangalore and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore organized National seminar on May 24th & 25th 2010 on “Recent Developments in the Pharmacological Research Guidelines, Rules & Regulations”.
The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjeev Rai, Chief of Medical Services, Father Muller, Charitable Institutions, Mangalore. Sri. CA. A. Raghavendra Rao President, A. Shama Rao Foundation presided over the function.
The morning session started with a plenary lecture by Dr. K. S. Karanth, Prof. Emeritus, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte, on “Ethics in Biomedical Research” followed by a talk on “Preparing to FDA inspection, Requirements, Rules & Regulations” by Dr. Prabhakar K. R., Senior Scientist- DMPK, Advinus Therapeutics, Bangalore. In the afternoon session plenary lecture was given by Dr. Preethi G. Pai., Asst. Prof. Dept. of Pharmacology, K.M.C., Mangalore on “Clinical Research guidelines and their amendments”.
On the second day i.e. on 25th Dr. Ayaaz Hussain Khan, Vice President- BA/BE, Manipal AcuNova, gave a talk on Clinical Biostudies for USFDA-ANDA Submissions and it was followed by talk by Dr. M. K. Unnikrishnan, Prof. Head, Dept. of Pharmacy Practice, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal, on “Pharmacological Research in the context of globalization”. At the end of the 2nd day Mr. Vijayanarayana K., selection grade lecturer, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences demonstrated pharmacological instruments.
The seminar was aimed at spreading awareness towards the guidelines and regulatory requirements mandatory being followed in pharmacological research.
The Valedictory function was held at 3.30PM on 25th May 2010. The delegates expressed their satisfaction over the quality and usefulness of the topics covered in the plenary session. They requested the organizers to organize such seminars in future also.

“Present generation should conserve and protect the forests which are the lifelines for
maintaining the clean and green environment”, Sri. Vijay Kumar, Deputy Conservator of
forests addressed the Pharmacy students at Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil, Mangalore
on 23rd June 2010. Srinivas College of Pharmacy organized “Vanamohotsava” in Valachil
campus as part of the NSS Programme. Sri CA A. Raghavendra Rao, President, A. Shama Rao
Foundation while presiding over the programme highlighted the importance of conserving the
forests to maintain ecological balance. Dr. A.R.Shabaraya welcomed the gathering, spoke on the
wagency of reducing the global warming effects. Mr. D.Sripathy, Asst. Professor proposed the

TRAFFICKING
Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil, Mangalore along with S. K. District Chemists & Druggists Association®, Mangalore D.K. and Drug Control Department, Mangalore commemorates International day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking on June 26th
2010.
Dr. Ravish Tunga, Psychiatrist, Manaswini Hospital, Mangalore was the Chief guest. He spoke at length about the evil effects of the drugs. He has explained to the gathering how the younger generation fall pray to this bad habit. First it starts for fun and slowly people become virtually slave to this monster. He exhorted the students to inform the concerned authorities if such drugs are sold or used either within the college campus or outside
Mr. Shiva Prasad, Customs Superintendent spoken on laws and regulations to prevent illicit drug trafficking. Mr. Sridhar Kamath, President, S.K. District Chemists & Druggists Association, welcomed the gathering and thanked the management, Srinivas group of colleges, the Principal, Srinivas college of Pharmacy for organizing the function at very short notice.
Dr. A.R. Shabaraya, Principal, Srinivas College of Pharmacy, welcomed the gathering and introduced the guests. He has outlined the importance of eradicating the drug abuse. He has explained how millions of younger generation turn to this evil habit and described the financial implication of this illegal drug trade globally.

Orientation day programme for the year 2010-11 Batch Students of Srinivas College of

held recently at Srinivas Campus valachil on 16th September 2011.

scope of Pharmacy and explained the course content, facilities and other details to the newly
admitted students and their parents. He highlighted the need of the strong determination,

REPORT ON NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON BIOSTATISTICS
AND RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
A National workshop on Biostatistics and Research Methodology was inaugurated by Dr. M.N.Madhyastha, Research & Develop Adviser, ECO- Environmental Consultant, Interlinking of Rivers Govt. of India at Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil, Mangalore on 28.09.2010. In his inaugural speech he stressed the importance of proper research methodology for doing scientific Research in Health sciences. Dr. Rekha P.D, Senior Scientific officer, Yenepoya Research centre, Yenepoya University in her speech highlighted the importance of various statistical tools in diversified scientific Research areas.
Mr. Arun, Dept of Pharmacy Practice, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences in his talk emphasized proper design and execution of experiments with result oriented statistical data in the field of clinical trials.
Dr.A.R.Shabaraya, Principal & Director, Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Mangalore, in his presidential remarks highlighted the involvement of PG students and the faculty in research activities which forms an integral part of their academic and professional life. He also stressed the need of biostatistics for proper presentation of research results.

On 29th Mrs. Sucharitha Suresh, Assistant Professor Fr. Muller College of Medical Sciences gave a talk on “Descriptive statistical methods in Research” and “Inferential statistical methods in Research” and then by Dr. K Aruna Rao, Professor of Statistics Mangalore University, Mangalore gave a talk on “Epidemiological modeling I” and “Epidemiological modeling II”. More than 200 delegates were present in the Seminar.

R.G.U.H.S (Mysore Zone) Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi Tournament (Men) 2010-11 was
inaugurated by Sri. Mohiuddin Bava, Owner, Mangalore United Cricket team, KPL at Srinivas
College of Pharmacy, Valachil, Mangalore on 05.10.2010. In his inaugural speech Kabaddi is
an ancient game which promotes the rich culture and heritage of India.

Srinivas College of Pharmacy Mangalore & Indian Pharmaceutical Association celebrated
‘National Pharmacy Week -2010 on 24th November 2010. Chief Guest Sri. R.S. Shaha,
Assistant Drug controller, Mangalore Circle, Mangalore inaugurated the function by lighting the
lamp and called Pharmacist to aware public with the abuse of drugs and advise not to consume
drugs without any reason.
Sri CA A. Raghavendra Rao President, A. Shama Rao Foundation, in his presidential remarks
appreciated the work done by drug department in awareness of drug safety and called the
budding pharmacist to shoulder that prime responsibilities of educating and advising the use of
drugs to the society.

As a part of National Pharmacy week Srinivas College of Pharmacy Mangalore & Indian
Pharmaceutical Association organized “Drug Abuse-Awareness” Pharma Rally on 25th
November 2010. Chief guest Dr. O.R. Srirangappa, District Health Officer, Mangalore Flag-off
the rally and Call for Pharmacist to play a responsible role by making public aware of the
hazardous nature of the drugs.

inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp and called for young generation to decide career
path of their own.
Smt. Vijayalakshmi R. Rao, Director, Srinivas Group of Colleges in her presidential remark
said that with the relevance of science, students have to decide the course and achieve greater
heights in their professional lives. Guest of Honours, Smt. Mitra S.Rao, President, Vijayalakshmi
Education Trust, Mangalore said to take right decision at right time in right direction is the
ladder to success. Sri. Venkataramana Bhat Vadva, Principal, Govt. Pre-University College,
Vittal, Bantwal Tk, said that science and technological advancements bring new thoughts among

NSS unit of Srinivas College of Pharmacy & Association of Community Pharmacists of India
Organised Health Camp on 10.02.2011 at Srinivas College of Pharmacy. The Chief guest
Dr. Srinivas Mayya, Principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology inaugurated the camp by
lighting the lamp and highlighted importance of organizing the health camps in rural areas.
Dr. A.R. Shabaraya, Principal and Director, Srinivas College of Pharmacy in his presidential
remarks highlighted the importance of community pharmacy services especially in inpatient
education, patient counseling and drug information services along with dispensing of medicines.
Dr. E.V.S. Subrahmanyam, Student welfare officer, Mr. Ashoka Shenoy M, NSS programme
officer and Mr. Shripathy D, Convener, Association of Community Pharmacist of India were
present. Health checkup was rendered in various departments like General Medicine, Ortho,
pediatric, ENT, Skin, Eye and offered their consultation services. About 150 persons from
Valachil village have availed the benefits of medical camp.
