The Inspections were carried out across Europe, in countries such as the UK, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Spain, Norway & Holland. At peak the project required in the region of 30 full time inspectors mobilising across Europe on a daily / weekly basis over 18 months.

Bureau project managed the process, including admin support, flights & accommodation, daily & weekly reports including dealing with the outcome of NCR’s with both UK & European based Inspectors.

The world’s first floating liquefied natural gas platform as well as the largest offshore facility ever constructed. The Prelude is being built by Samsung Heavy Industries and Technip in South Korea for Royal Dutch Shell.

She is 488 metres (1,601 ft.) long, 74 metres (243 ft.) wide, and made with more than 260,000 tonnes of steel.

At full load, she will displace more than 600,000 tonnes; more than five times the displacement of a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.

Bureau UK were asked to provide onshore Inspectors to cover the Painting & Coating, Welding, E&I & Mechanical inspections of this major project.
