Remove the right front wheel

Timing belt: removal/installation
Note: Mark the position
Remove the power steering fluid reservoir but do not disconnect
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Disconnect the wiring loom from the timing belt cover
Unclip the fuel hose from the timing cover
Remove the plugs(2.00)
Turn the crankshaft clockwise until just before TDC for cylinder 1
Note: The grooves in the camshaft should be offset downwards, toward the crankshaft
Fit the crankshaft locking tool (mot. 1489)(3.00)

Remove the timing belt
Renew the tensioner and idler pulley
Installation
IMPORTANT: Degrease the crankshaft and crankshaft pulley mating faces
Check the position of the camshafts

Fit the tensioner pulley
Note: The lug in the base plate must engage in the hole in the cylinder head

Fit the timing belt
Fit the idler pulley (45 Nm)
Use a special tool: (mot. 1368 (Torx))
Tension the timing belt
Use an Allen key (6 mm)
Tensioner type: (a)
Using a 6 mm Allen key, turn the tensioner clockwise until the moveable pointer is 7 - 8 mm to the right of the fixed pointer
Tensioner type: (b)

Tighten the tensioner pulley nut (7 Nm)
Fit the crankshaft pulley
Renew the crankshaft pulley bolt (40 Nm + 115 ± 15°)

Align the moveable pointer with the fixed pointer

Loosen the tensioner pulley, keeping it steady with an Allen key
Position the tensioner as shown
Tighten the tensioner pulley nut (27 Nm)
Fit new plugs
Use a special tool:
Inlet: (mot. 1487)
Exhaust: (mot. 1488)
Fit all the timing belt covers
Reconnect the fuel hose to the timing cover
Fit the ancillary drive belt
Refit the power steering reservoir
Refit the right-hand engine support
General

Refit the front right splash guard
Refit the front right wheel
Reconnect the battery
Torque settings
Note: Use a new bolt (40 Nm + 115 ± 15°)
Tensioner pulley: (27 Nm)
Idler pulley: (45 Nm)
