REMEMBERING OUR BAPTISM The Pouring of the Waters as a Reminder of our New Beginnings In the Reformed
tradition Baptism is a sign of God's Covenant. The water of Baptism is linked with the
waters of creation, the flood and the exodus. Why does our baptismal prayer recall all
these ancient things? Because the water of baptism is a vivid reminder that our God is a
God of new beginnings and that through the new covenant in Christ we receive the
ultimate washing and rebirth. Jesus commanded: "Go therefore and make disciples of
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit."
May we rejoice and remember this new covenant and command as we pour this water.

All: You are our eternal Rock.
Leader: Though the earth gives way and the winds blows, we know that our
foundation will hold not because of ourselves, but because of you.
All: You are our strong tower.
Leader: So, build us up, Powerful King ...
All: And though we continue to sin over and over again, often in the same
failings, help us to stand firm on your grace, a grace which never runs dry.
Keep us strong, humble and growing in you. For we pray in the name of One
who did it all, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

40 DAYS OF PRAYER Remember how Jesus spent 40 days with his disciples after the Resurrection, preparing them to be his witnesses? Starting July 1 through August 16 (Monday through Friday), we are going to spend 40 Days in Prayer in order to better prepare ourselves for the 2019-2020 ministry season. We will read together a prayer guide written by Joan Gray, author of the book “Sailboat Church” and former Moderator of the General Assembly. Her guide will help us soften our hearts to God’s leading and await his Spirit to empower us. MINI-WORKSHOPS Ever wondered how to do some of the things that go on regularly at the church? Well, we’re putting together some basic introductory workshops on various topics in the coming weeks in order to give you an idea. We will meet in the pastor’s office and will go for only 20-25 minutes. But through this introductory session, you will have a better idea how you might get involved in this ministry. The session is open to all!
