Battle Background(Actual Battle)

On February 23, 1896, General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna attacked the Texan-controlled town of San Antonio

They almost took the defenders by surprise They quickly evacuated the town and gathered the

citizens in the Alamo- the mission in San Antonio For 13 days, the approximately 200 Texan

volunteers defended the Alamo against the nearly 2,000 Mexican soldiers.

Some of the most famous defenders were Davy Crockett, the Tennessean Congressman, and James Bowie, the famous knife fighter

By the end of the siege, all of the Alamo defenders were slain. However, women and children were spared

Is the Movie Reliable?

Yes No

Page 16: Remember The Alamo!

My Decision I believe that the movie is reliable

because: Throughout my research, I found no glaring

errors in the movie’s facts Despite the fact that some parts were over

exaggerated, I believe that the directors and creators of the movie did their best to be historically accurate

All of the “Fact or Fiction” segments I shared with you were from the movie- and all were found factual based on my research

Relation To the Theme My topic relates to the theme of

Expansion because: The Battle of the Alamo was a pivotal point in

the Texan Revolution, which the Texans won Although Texas was an independent nation for

a couple of years after winning its independence, it became a state in the Union, thus expanding the U.S.’s territory
