National Breast CancerSurvivor Recognition ProgramIn 2002, RE/MAX joined Susan G. Komen

for the Cure in the breast cancer movement.The partnership acknowledges and supportsthe millions of survivors, activists, friendsand families who join together to celebratevictories and advancements – and individualcourage of every form – in the fightagainst the disease.

It’s the celebration of survivorship thataligns our organization with Komen for theCure and the National Series Breast CancerSurvivor Recognition Program.

Grassroots activism holds a unique place intoday’s world. The desire to brighten thefuture for those who suffer from breast cancerfuels the passion of RE/MAX and Komenfor the Cure. Together we are working tomake our communities – and the world – abetter place. And, increasingly, people arerealizing that doing business with RE/MAXis a way to support a number of ongoingefforts that improve their communities.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure was foundedon a promise between two sisters – SusanGoodman Komen and Nancy Goodman

Each year, more than 1 million people participatein Komen Race for the Cure events.An integral part of the Komen Race Series isthe Survivor Recognition Program. This programprovides pink T-shirts, caps and “Inmemory of” and “In celebration of” backsigns to honor and support friends andloved ones who have faced the disease.RE/MAX co-sponsors the SurvivorRecognition program with Zeta Tau Alpha, afraternal sorority. ZTA began an associationwith Komen for the Cure in 1992 when itbecame the first national sponsor of theNational Series Breast Cancer SurvivorRecognition Program. Together, RE/MAX andZTA champion the race to find a cure forbreast cancer, while supporting those whohave encountered the disease.

Brinker. Suzy was diagnosed with breastcancer in 1978, a time when little was knownabout the disease and it was rarely discussedin public.

Before she died, at age 36, Suzy asked hersister to do all she could to bring an end tobreast cancer. Nancy kept her promise byestablishing the Susan G. Komen BreastCancer Foundation in 1982.

Twenty-five years later, Komen for the Cure isa global leader in the breast cancer movementand is the world’s largest private funder ofbreast cancer research and community outreachprograms. Working through grassrootsactivism and events such as Komen Race forthe Cure®, Komen leads the fight to eradicatebreast cancer forever by funding research,education, screening and treatment projects incommunities around the world.

With the help of activists, corporate partnersand generous donors, the Komen Foundationhas raised nearly $1 billion to help end breastcancer forever.
